I'm not an Audiophile, so I make do with the earphones that came with my iPhone, if they were to get lost/broken I would simply buy the cheapest set I can find.

Not because I'm a tightwad, but simply because I don't personally value the better sound quality over a cheap set.

The standard Apple headphones are one of my pet hates, the iPhone is an incredible product and yet they ship the worst, cheap crap headphones with them. Another £5 on the purchase price and, given the volume they would buy, they could suppply a great set!

I've had Etymotic's which are great and currently using Monster Turbine Pro's - next set likely to be Shure's +++

Wow, that's a serious music habit you have there!

I bought MrsMe a pair of Sennheiser(?) earphones for £40 for when she's on the treadmill and she says they're far superior to the standard earphones - but at £275 I'd say you're an afficiando of picking up audio differences through earphones!

I'll be going for the 425s. I think the 535s might pick out the fact a good portion of my main musical taste is badly recorded!

I did go into a hi-fi shop today to look at some new speakers. While I was in there the staff were demoing a LINN vinyl turntable which was £14k - the stylus alone was £3k. It sounded utterly amazing - easily as good as the sound out of a CD - it had to be heard to be believed!

oops, forgot about this thread!

Baz, given the amount of long-haul flying you do, can you get noise cancelling in-ear headphones?

Have never seen them myself, most people use the Bose or Sony over ear offerings but I can't get on with them - its not natural!

Also Baz - what sort of music are you listening to and how good is the quality?

Mostly house, drum&bass and dubstep - though I'm getting a bit old for this :roflmao:

Oh it's all early 90s Europop and techno for Baz :)

errrrr, have you been sneaking a look at my iTunes list?!

Just ordered a pair of Shure SE535s for the bargain price of £275. Hope they're as good as everyone says! They are replacing my worn out Etymotic ER-6i's which were pretty bloody good themselves.

Result - where did you order them from? link? +++

Got them from here:

Shure SE535 Sound Isolating Earphones Bronze

There are some on ebay at £252 from Hong Kong but I wasn't sure if I would get stung for import duty on them. Plus they would probably take longer to arrive.

Well they haven't turned up yet and doing a bit of Googling about the site I bought them off, I'm now rather suspicious. Various comments around the web about being sent counterfeit goods. I think I might just ring Amex and cancel the transaction. Hope nobody else bought any from my link.

Do be aware Rob that I think if you buy them from a non authorised reseller I don't think the warranty is valid. That said, I'm not 100% sure Amazon are a reseller anyway.

I thought that regardless of where you buy products from in the EU though that a manufacturer couldn't refuse to honour the warranty.
