Mook
OK, first off, I'm really sorry for not sorting out (or, more appropriately, writing down) a six week programme to post up on here that people can work to. My last victim managed to lose just over 8lbs in 6 weeks, but the target is 6lbs in 6 weeks - not just to lose it only to put it back on, but to lose it permanently. More of that stuff later on. For now, what regular exercise do you do each week now? My starter for ten: 3 mile run - 4 times a week first thing in the morning with the dogs, so it needs to happen anyway 1 hr Spinning - 3 or 4 times a week 40 minute circuit training - 6 times a week, in the morning before work and on a Saturday before spinning 1 hr "boot camp" - once a week - finishes off a Friday in a great way :D 15-30 mile mountain bike ride - normally once a fortnight at the minute, plus a 35-45 mile MTB race once a month in the winter I have no problem in admitting that I'm an adrenalin junkie and addicted to endorphins - the kick that you get after you've done some decent exercise. For me, it's 1,000 times better than having and alcohol addiction (which I've fortunately managed to steer clear of, although I came close about 8 years ago) or smoking (I gave up "social smoking" 6 years ago). Holy crap, now I've written that down, it looks, erm, well, horrendous I somehow manage to fit in home, the kids, work and doing a load of work on the house in between that lot - ripping out the kitchen and re-building over the last couple of weeks it has been the main reason I've not managed to get the time to write down a decent 6 in 6 programme... What's yours...?
m4ttm4son
I was doing a lot more earlier this year, when training for the Edinburgh Marathon, but getting my running back over the next few weeks after some injury niggles. Once I'm up to speed it'll be: One session of intervals-style running per week (about an hour) One sessions of hill work per week (another hour) Two runs at the weekend of about 15 miles total. This will be on top of my current simple circuits at home of squats and chin ups, four times a week. I find it difficult sometimes to push myself out the door and have to try to remember the endorphin rush at the end. It managed to work this morning But the best way to get myself into running shoes is to have races planned. After last month's half marathon I don't have anything planned until a possible London Marathon, so will have to book something up now I'm almost fit again. I was also a social smoker about 4 years ago. Coincidentally we quit during the last Olympics and running was the best thing to get me and the g/f off the b@stard things. Have never looked back
Andrew
Most weeks mine consists of: 2 x runs, one of about 10k one of about 4 miles (just to keep the legs strong really) 4 x canoeing sessions varying from 45 mins of continuous to interval training over the same period - mostly intervals 1 x road ride of over 50 miles on a Saturday. I have one day off a week which means that one of the days I train twice. That said, busy weekend just gone (wedding stuff) meant I've not trained since Thursday which is unusual. Now, I thought I did quite a lot but you do 15 sessions minimum a week. 15 sessions a week Mook - we didn't even do that in the Royal Marines training. That's not all separate though - running and circuits effectively count as one (except the 20 minutes between them while I drop the kids at the bus for school) and the Saturday morning circuit & spinning counts as one. Told you I've got an addiction problem though
Luke
Before hernia I was down to 12st 8lb. 4 months (enforced break) down the line I'm 13st 12lb! I'm mtb again now, 22 miles Sunday and doing the running app. Feel strong physically now and want to get really fit so i can beat the cocky fücker who's coming biking now and thrashing me! DanG
3 mile 'interval' run 4 times a week. That's basically 1.5 miles, then a 2 minute walk and then the remainder back to the house. Walk a fair bit too, at a fair pace up an down hills. Working on diet too, which is meaning that I am not full of carbs so energy levels are lower. Which makes the runs harder, although I can complete with ease. Cuttin down the booze too and eating much smaller meals. Taking more vitamins too. It is actually amazing how much better I feel. Am down to 12st 8lbs now and am not far off the 12.5st target. Still have fat to lose, but it's moving in the right direction.

DaveP
Commute by bike up to twice a week. 55 miles round trip. 3-6hrs Wednesday night MTB ride (mostly full suspension, but I might get my singlespeed working for this winter). Long(er) road rides sat and/or sun. I guess with Winter around the corner Utterly biased towards legs! Would be good to balance that with some overall workout - circuits? Tipex
How on earth do you find the time to do all of that? Have you cut back your hours to part time? if I did all that, I wouldn't have time for sleep!
Andrew
3 days off obviously worked wonders - 10k in 43:58 which I've not approached fro a while!
Drinks
Cycling 2-5 times a week but short distances 12 miles or so with 1 or 2 rides being at least 20 miles but not normally more than 30. Running 1-2 times a week between 5-7km Swimming 3 times per week. One technique swim around 100 lengths mixing drills with stamina/pyramids. One hour of squad swim which is being pushed hard by the coach. One early morning session maybe 30 minutes just a steady swim. Going to use the winter to try and increase endurance so I can do longer races next year. Will certainly see a reduction in cycling over the next few weeks as the nights draw in, may look at a turbo but I'm not really a great user of indoor equipment. If you mean me, its very achievable. 1hr to 2hrs of exercise a day. Gyms are open early and the turbo is in the garage. Drinks
turbo is in the garage. What turbo have you got? I keep looking at them but as I said above not sure how much I'll use it. Do you have a spare wheel that you just use for the trainer?

Maxyboy
Not the best pic. It's an elite chrono i picked up in the sales about this time last year. I don't use it as much as I thought I would as it can be desperately boring. A tv in the garage would help. But it does get your heart going and you sweat like a rapist as there's no wind to cool you. If you want a half hour workout I would recommend it. If you want longer I'd look elsewhere. I have a spare wheel I use with an old tyre on as they chew through them. You can buy turbo specific tyres but I never have.
Mook
I meant Mook to be honest, but even still, there simply aren't enough hours in a day for me to do anything approaching 2hrs a day! I'm up at 6:30, get to the office at 9 and leave between 5 & 6. I've managed to find a decent balance with the kids (who are always off doing stuff in the evenings) and Mrs Mook, although I freely admit I'm pushing the boundaries when it comes to evenings and weekends. If I had it my way, I'd be out for at least two big 4 or 5 hour MTB rides every weekend :D
Tipex
What time do you go to bed? I tend to go to sleep around midnight, and I'm up at 7am, which for me, isn't quite enough sleep, I tend to make it up again at the weekend. By the time I've sorted myself and the kids out, It's time to get out to work, I get in the car at 7:50am, and get home around 6pm, by the time I've had dinner, and spent some time with the kids, I'm knacked! Mook
What time do you go to bed? 10:30 to 11pm By the time I've sorted myself and the kids out Ah, the joy of having older kids - they sort themselves out - even make their own pack lunch for school now :D The two little kids we do have are the dogs ...get home around 6pm, by the time I've had dinner, and spent some time with the kids, I'm knacked! OK, yes, this may sound predictable, but when you start to do exercise regularly, you have more energy. And you have a really sedentary job - even doing 20-30 minutes a day would make a massive difference to how much energy you had
Mook
Oh and no more crap and sweets in my diet...hard, but its been almost three months now This. I used to eat shed-loads of sweets, chocolate and all that. One of the best things I've found is to not cut stuff like that out altogether, otherwise you can start to "resent" doing what you're doing - just have one day a week where you can have chocolate or whatever, juts not totally pig out on it
m4ttm4son
You late risers I'm up at 0525 and out the door at 0530 if I'm running. Mind you, I do sleep an hour on the train to work 2230 = It's sad being 30. When I was 20 those times were reversed
