Sat pensively waiting whilst my MOT is being done. Had a good chat with the tester and he was telling me about his MR2 track car so fingers crossed.

Told him I'd just changed the bulbs so if one wasn't working let me know as I may not have connected it properly. He said I needn't have bothered changing them they'd have been fine and any little issues like blown bulbs he'll pop through and tell me before testing it :)

Been for a Sicilian tune-up on the way here (like an Italian tune-up but smaller due to the weather) and I did move the steering wheel 1 spline too far round - typical!!!

Balls - failed :(

After all that it failed on handbrake efficiency I knew it was crap, they're all pretty crappy TBH but didn't even think to tighten it up.

It's not a hard job, half an hour really but a faff on having to take it back next week even though I'm off. Worst of all is that the tester has tried to check the adjustment on the lever itself and the end has pinged off the spring-loaded switch! I now need to put the switch back together too (which is fiddly due to where it is) to get the dash light to go out. Grrrrr!

Woohoo - shiny bits through the post!

A 3 bar Fuel Pressure Regulator for a 328i and a random rubber gasket:

The FPR was £59.95 and there was a 10% off code if you spent over £60. The random rocker cover bolt gasket was the cheapest thing showing for my car at less than a quid so it got ordered so I could use the code.

The 3 bar FPR replaces the 2.5 bar stock one and makes the injectors flow 8-9% more fuel. I can't fit it on it's own though or I'll be running rich, I'm going to order a set of chips next week to complement it.

Was holding off a Stage 1 tune but a friend fitted one and apart from the circa 30bhp increase the boost builds much more progressively so I thought - why wait!

After my MOT of non-joy I adjusted the handbrake shoes on both rear wheels:

You use a screwdriver to turn the adjuster via a hole in the drum part of the brake disc and then check the braking force either by putting the wheel back on and turning it or with a good old crowbar!

Also cracked out the machine polisher and the Zymöl Concours wax on the wing:

Then I could fit my DIY stoneguards, I had the black ones already and wasn't going to pay another £40 for the clear ones. I bought 1m x 50cm of ventureshield type stuff from eBay for a tenner and cracked out the scalpel to trace around the black ones. Almost invisible when fitted:

And then the bone of contention, the finishing touch/ruining touch:

When you're finished I think you should impress us with your accounting skills- total man hours and cost for finished item.

I can't remember what the outcome of the insurance claim was, didn't you get a full value claim and buy back as scrap and then the rebuild / fix body costs?

I'd guess at 205 hours of your time, and £4231 as costs.

Even if you can't account, it looks great and must sit within the bargain (from adversity) within a lifetime award sector.

I applaud your effort, now get rid of that chavy sticker

Yeah, I fail. Again. :coffee:

Mind you, to help my chav credentials just now I put this on full volume:

Oh my. Oh my word. My ribcage was humming in harmony with the music, every beat was crystal clear. Amazing.

Had to turn it down before my ears started to bleed, though.
