[Audi A3/S3] Audi a3 near side wing mirror broken

Hi all, a rather large bloke couldn't fit past my car because the hedge was growing onto the foot path. Instead of manoeuvring around my car he has smashed the mirror off the cast metal. Don't know if I can repair it with chemical metal or if I can just replace the cast metal. But first I need to remove the wing mirror. Could anybody advise how to remove the mirror and if just the cast metal can be replaced.
