Weird car stuff you just don't get

Not sure if this is the right place... but it is a weird car thing i don't get.

Agreed valuations. Just been discussing this on the Alfa 75 forum, as some idiot seems to think that because he's spunked £10k on restoring his car, and because some other nutter has given him a piece of paper saying 'I think it's worth eleventy hundred pounds', it means you can have an 'agreed value' of £6.5k against it for insurance purposes.

How does this make sense, when the real value is around £3k?

Have a look on eBay and you'll see lots of sheds where the owner has spent £10K or whatever, and they think it's worth at least half that......  :roflmao:

If I'm going to crash into a Porsche, I'd rather it was the bloke who owns a pawn shop, thinks he's a bit of a geezer, spends to much time in the gym apparently only working on his arms, wears a woolly hat even in the summer, and rather than spend money on fixing the really very badly knocking bottom end of his 911, spunked a load of cash making it look like a slightly newer turbo one instead.

Some states in the US recommend pumping the brakes just to highlight you're slowing. I've seen quite a few cars do this around London.

Surely that depends how quickly you need to stop.  :P

I've done it in the past approaching motorway hold ups when I've had plenty of room but traffic behind doesn't seem to be slowing... either as well as or instead of flashing hazards.
