PetrolDave
The red light staying on usually means the central locking thinks that one of the doors, bonnet or boot isn't closed. Does any of those show as open show on the DIS?
Tipex
If Petrol Dave is correct, which it sounds like he might be, then It'll be a microswitch within the lock mechanism of either one of the doors or the boot, do the interior lights function correctly as you open/close the doors? Does the boot light go out when you shut the boot?

Tipex
Every door has a microswitch within the latch mechanism, it tells the car if a door is open, so the easiest way to know if it's working is if the interior light doesn't come on when you open that particular door, or if the interior light stays on when the door is shut. If that's working ok then the problem must be elsewhere.
Scotty
the boot lock was a bit sticky but i used some wd40 on it and it loosend up ok Do yourself a favour and get down to Maplins for some of this : Graphite Lock Lubricant : Lubricants & Butane Gas : Maplin Electronics WD40 will attract grit and grime and make it worse. Give it a good dose but hold a cloth over it whilst doing so!
