Radical RXC Coupe

XCAR had the chance to see what the new Radical is like. For a start, it is a hardtop coupe, something quite unusual for what we thought was the maker of open-top racing cars, but you wouldn’t really want to take one on the road for fear of being squashed by a bus.

Gone is the Suzuki Hayabusa engine the first Radicals were renowned for, and in its place, is something much meatier – a 3.7-litre V6 out of the Ford Mustang, which in this state of tune, makes 380 hp. However, the car itself has grown a bit too, compared to what the company regularly makes, tipping the scales at just over 900 kg. Still, it reaches 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 175 mph (280 km/h) - most mainstream sports cars would not be able to touch it.
