audia8s2
looks good Matt , I love the 20inch S-lines, I think I will have to make a purchase. 20's look superb but I may go for 19's simply to give a little more clearance from Kerb damage Mine's going in to have the lower part of the bumper's and bottom of the sill/trim sprayed to match the body colour, looks good on yours. p.s. Paul, I've answered your exhaust question in a new post, cheers Ben.
Botang
As far as kerb damage goes my 20" tyres have rim protectors so it isnt too bad, in the 12 months ive had them I have put about a 1" light kerb scratch on one wheel, so as long as your careful it isnt too much of a problem, I would have thought 19's will be just the same. The best tip is to always reverse park next to a kerb and use the auto dip mirror (passenger side mirror in reverse if mirror control lever is in left position) to guide you and it works really well. Thanks a lot by the way
badger5
[ QUOTE ] Recoded transmisson (thanks audipages ) [/ QUOTE ] Recoded transmission? Whats this? Newbie to A8/S8 ... going to look @ one tomorrow so may have one shortly. (S8) Recoding transmission... Tiptronic.. Please tell me more cheers Bill
Botang
It is possible to recode the transmisson with Vag Com. What happens is you can change the characteristics of the Auto and tiptronic functions. The Auto box learns how you drive the car, but you can switch this feature off which gives you more control. I have put another post explaining it a bit more somewhere on here i'll have a look

Sven
Looking great mate! And yeah, very cool plate! I resized the pic a bit, if you want to post it in a thread, keep 800 pixels (longest side) as a guideline, otherwise it'll deform the thread, and be a pain for dialup users. In the Gallery it doesn't matter much though. To post a picture; while making a post, click 'Image' below the text field ('Instant UBB Code') and post the URL in the prompt field that appears. (To show attachments you need to edit your post afterwards; click the attachment, and copy the URL as described above). It'll look something like below: <font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre> [image]http://www.mysite.com/myphoto.jpg[/image] </pre><hr />
Sven
As to wheels, besides the original Avus S8 wheels (something to be said for that on a debadged S8 ), I think the RS6 look good, or the Abt rims. That way it'll keep that 'factory look'. I wouldn't go overboard on exotic rims on a car like this, that may ruin it's great looks and understated style. That's these Abt wheels, not the ones they show on the D2. They look a tad 'skinny' perhaps, but Ive seen them on a black Audi Cabrio, and they look stunning! audia8s2
Car looks really good, love the colour. I've just swapped my 18inch sport wheels for 19inch RS6. Vey pleased and as Sven says, it keeps the OEM look. http://www.tyresmoke.net/gallery/albuo64/IMG_1325

A8_Tony
Well thanks a lot guys, the reception has been truly superb. Sven, yeah the ABT wheels are quite nice, must admit, I'm looking for something in chrome (I just think they'd set the car off quite nicely ta very much!). I'll just have to keep looking. They're a while away anyhoo, as I don't need tyres just yet Gez, yup got the plate with the car, I was tempted to sell it at one point, but then someone turned to me and said 'cool plate for an Audi' at which point I then decided to find out why........keeping it now Unfortunately, it is parked under trees, although I'm in the process of sorting out a garage. The sap is ridiculous, although it does wash off easily enough. Thanks again for the comments guys!!

A8_Tony
I'm gonna be honest here now guys, I'm not a big fan of chunky 5 spoke wheels. I do love the Audi 20" Avus, which I think look superb on any 8 shaped motah, feck it I saw a set on a Skoda Octavia RS (18's I think), and that made a hell of a difference to how the car looked. I do like multi spoke designs, but also like deep dishes I have no idea why, just always have. I like the new A8 multi spokes too, think they look quite nice, although what they'd look like on an older shape I don't know. Check these prices out!! http://www.alloywheelsonline.com/product.asp?intProdID=23&intPID=A8+8X19+WHEELS+%26+TYRES

It's great plate on a superb car enjoy!

Looks great with them big discs, and they're easier to clean. I was tempted by the RS6's but decided to keep the Avus wheels, since that's one of the few things on the exterior which sets it apart as an S8. Also the price was an issue, with TPM valves and tyres I ended up well in €4K area, which is a bit silly when you have perfectly nice wheels with new tyres already... However they do suit that car, even on the new shape A8 I think the 5 spokes look sportier/meaner than the 12 spokes (see thread "The Behemoth has landed"). My dealer had a pre facelift A8 in the showroom with the new A8 12 spokes (17" IIRC), and that looked very wrong. I didn't like that at all. If you ask me, when you don't like the 5 spoke, go for the RS4 style. A few guys on here have those in 20" and they do look very good on the 8. Also, the S8 came with those as OEM fitment in the last year. Much better IMO. I do hear you on the 'deep dish' wheels, I used to like them a lot (my first set aftermarket alloys were Wolf Race wheels ), but somehow they became near extinct (fashion probably), and now I think they tend to make the car look older.... Plenty agressive tho...
Sven
These look okay tho I think... Nice article too BTW...
A8_Tony
Hi Sven, agreed the 17" version of the new 12 spoke design, looks bloody awful. However, put the 19's or 20's on and we're talking a different story. I've seen both of the mota's you posted before, and although not a big fan of the BBS rims (too many other mota's out there with similar rims), they do look good. I had a quick look at www.budnik.com today an alloy wheel manufacturer in the states, he's got some beauties on there!!! By the way, how's the zorst sounding???? It looks the dogs danglies, has it improved performance at all?
Sven
Zorst sounds great! (Ask PaulW) Performance wise I couldn't say how much increase it gave, but combined with the K&N air-filter inlay it certainly makes a difference. (Get that filter anyway, it's much better, and for that price... ) Part nr.: 33-2779 (linky) K&N site As to the wheels, many are a bit 'wild' for my taste, but something like the Gasser 6 FL could be cool I think, if you're after a chrome deep dish rim. A8_Tony
Can anyone imagine these beauties on a black A8??? http://www.budnik.com/roadwheeldetail.asp?scid=55&pid=710&pg=
Sven
Hmm, you'll be making a statement, that's for sure... I'm kinda ambivalent towards the chrome wheels, but it might work out. You'd have to be very careful what you do with the rest of the car. I think this "Epic S8" is a good example of a more agressive look, whilst staying in style. You could achieve something like that with the chrome wheels I reckon, but forget about subtle then. It'll be brutal... From that Budnik series I think I like these best. Since you like the chrome jobbies, here's an idea what it looks like on an Audi.
