NewNiceMrMe
Yup, watching it. I'm suprised to see him start. I thought they'd bring him on at half time.
NewNiceMrMe
Oh. That cross wasn't, umm, well, anything but embarrassing. He looked like he wanted to dig a hole for himself.
Luke
Good poachers goal. Was in the right place. Surprised they've played him from the start, he doesn't look fit. Thought he'd be better coming on with 30 mins left. It's going to take a while but I'm sure he's going to do well. He's pace and physicality will leave people for dead. NewNiceMrMe
He looked a lot less fit than I expected, but the goal will serve his confidence well. I still think he'll struggle in the long term. £85m doesn't let you put in half a season - and lets be honest, that's what he did at Spurs. Luke
I can still see him coming back to Spurs for £35m in a year or two. Do you think Utd did bid for him?
NewNiceMrMe
Reports suggest they did but weren't prepared to go above £70m. He only ever wanted to go to Madrid anyway. United have £100m in cash reserves for transfers - but god knows when they'll use it. Next year when Ronaldo returns, probably. Because he will. Twinspark
I've always said he was a £20-30m player. Has some moments - but isn't consistent. Was never keen on United going for him because they'd have had to pay way too much for him. Good for him to get a goal on his debut, though. Twinspark
On another note... that was a shocking decision from Atkinson to rob Sunderland of an equaliser.
NewNiceMrMe
On another note... that was a shocking decision from Atkinson to rob Sunderland of an equaliser. A quite baffling decision! Astonishing. Even Shearer saying "the referee has had an absolute shocker".
Luke
Just seen the howler on MOTD. er advantage! And why no red card?? Terrible decision.
NewNiceMrMe
Di Canio is a nutter but the ref needs to get glasses and a sense of humour. Apart from the disallowed goal that could well have changed the end result, his decision to send Di Canio to the stands was ridiculous. "I was joking and asked him he might as well send me off" "So he did". <---- my favourite smiley isn't working?
