Last night was a very nervous game from what I heard on 5 Live.

They're going to have to spend a lot of money to strengthen that squad but they've done incredibly well this year.

They'll still be finishing in the bottom 3-5 clubs in the Premier League if they don't because I think the Championship has been poorer this year than in the last 4-5 years.  I still watch a fair few of the matches on Sky and I don't think I've ever seen a season with such poor football in that league.

We were awful in the second half last night.

If we can hang on to Schmichael it will be a miracle but we must if we want to stay up.

Yes, they will have to spend big but it seems our Thai owners have the resources. The club is now debt free thanks to their debt for equity swap.

Schmeichel isn't good enough yet.  I know you might think that sounds strange, but there is a reason none of the big clubs have come in for him.

He's just not consistent enough yet.  He may mature as his father did, but the next few seasons are critical to him.  Man United don't want him anyway because he has been sullied by the club that shall not be named.:roflmao:

Seriously though, he won't be your No.1 next season in my opinion.  I think he's one of the players under thread from purchases.  They will need a better keeper.  He is a not a Premier League goalkeeper yet, not even close to it.

I think he'll end up back in the Championship.

But was already established as a world class keeper when he did.

I would disagree.  He had a very poor first season and we were the only club that went in for him at the time.

He was named best keeper in the world the following season, and the one after that, but at the time there weren't people fighting for him.

As for Smith and Ferdinand, well I never liked the former anyway.  Ferdinand was a little different.  He only stayed at the hovel for 54 games and he always made it clear he didn't want to be there.  He also left them with a nice little gift.  They had just had their new year calendar printed and distributed to their uncouth mob when he signed for Manchester United.:roflmao:

They hate him.  We like this. :roflmao:

Mata looks on superb form. Still a mystery as to how we managed that signing.

If he were not cup tied, I'd be fairly confident about the Bayern game.

Mata - Kagawa - Hernandez looked very potent - swap Hernandez for Rooney and you have something to scare the best of Europe.

But Sideshow Bob is almost up there with double-Djemba as a signing. Although DD cost a fraction of what we paid for Sideshow.

Did you know Djemba-Djemba has just resurfaced?

At St Mirren.

I didn't know until just now.  Well I never. :roflmao:

Djemba-Djemba signs for St. Mirren

Yeah, I knew that.

Good luck to him - he wasn't a United player, but he was a fan. And still is.

Read this:

I think you'll particularly like this bit:

"Oh my God, you remember that time! It was so nice. In my house I have a picture from when I scored against Leeds in the Carling Cup. It was in extra time and I scored from a corner. And I still have a picture in my head from when I go into the dressing room after the game. There was Alex Ferguson. He was smiling. A big smile, with his glasses on. He was so happy."

Nice little win in bandit country for Oldham today :P

Fully deserved too by all accounts.

We're secure this season, had a great start and were top 5 for months but had a terrible run leaving us mid table.

Looking forward to next season now :coffee:

I find it interesting that there is perhaps more coverage on the Bradford match than there was on the two previous results for Oldham.

Draws against Brentford and Leyton Orient are, in my view, what is likely to have saved them from relegation.

I know both of those teams has been in patches of a drop in form, but they're still in second place and a place-off place respectively.  Before the games I'd have said Oldham fans would have expected defeat.  In early March I thought they looked doomed, but this little run they've put together is quite impressive in terms of a turn-around.

Crawley and Colchester appear to be in freefall below them.  How many defeats in a row for both?  I don't know but every time I've seen their results recently and then looked at the league table they both seem to be clueless on how to get some stability.

I think Carlisle and Tranmere will do enough to stay up - but Colchester look destined to do the late season drop into that last relegaton place to me.

Well, that puts the performances of Martinez and Moyes into perspective. Looks very much like Everton are going to snatch a Champions League place this season.

No it doesn't.  We've had this conversation before.  The squad has been strengthened significantly.
