Not their fault as such, but certainly a time when they'll see that the grass isn't always greener.

They have constantly criticised him.  It's a club that O'Neill did a lot of damage to and Lambert has tried desperately to bring the youth system through - and failed miserably.

However, some of the fans attitudes have been appalling.  They've been campaigning to get Lambert out for so long it is now the most boring subject in the Premier League.

I agree with you that the time had come to decide whether to give Lambert money or not, but he's clearly decided he doesn't need the hassle now.  Change of ownership in the Premier League can be a very tricky time.  They've no idea what is to come but if they find a Chairman as loyal and committed as Lerner has been (and as patient) I'll be amazed.

I used to have a work contact who was a Wolves fan ("Eddie").  He had a few colleagues who were Baggies fans.

There was one Villa fan.

The contact used to tell me of the utter mayhem the Villa fan would cause, recounting tales of their European Cup wins, their title winning years and how they were up there with the biggest clubs in Europe.

The Baggies and Wolves fans didn't like each other, but the one thing they always came together on was their despise of the Villa fan - and their mutual hatred of Birmingham City.

This line of conversation has made me wonder what happened to "Eddie".  He was a smashing guy, well into his 50's, when he was made redundant and he said the only pleasure in life he could look forward to was knowing he could watched his beloved Wolves on a weekend without the office calling him.  Now there's a club that has gone through change.  Once the biggest in the country and now looking to restore some pride.

I only ever went to Molineux once and it was looking very tatty at the time (back in the early 80's IIRC).  I've done The Hawthorns once and St Andrews once too.  Villa Park is a ground I've been to many, many times.  When FA Cup semi's were played there or at Hillsborough you were reminded of the once proud heritage of these clubs and how far they call fall.  In both cases I think the clubs owners were guilty of massive under investment when they were doing well and they paid a very heavy price.

I was talking to a guy in his 20's not that long ago (well, about 6 months or so) and he couldn't understand how I perceived Sheffield Wednesday as one of the lower 'big clubs'.  He'd never known them in anything but times of failure.  It'd probably be the same of someone in their 70's and 80's talking of Preston North End, Blackpool etc.  Strange how times move on and perception changes so quickly.

Been to Wolves a few times. Molineux was a half derelict wreck at the end of the 80s, but their Premiership dalliance brought good investment to make it one of the better grounds in the league now. Makes for quite a nice trip - easy walk from the station via a few decent pubs and a respectable curry afterwards.

I've been to around half the grounds in the league, but with most of that following Oldham I have one or two glaring gaps in my list - Villa Park and Highbury among them.

I got thrown out of the Hawthorns for swearing!  :secret:

I went to Highbury a few times, again in the 80's.  I think I've been to a similar number of grounds to you, through most divisions with the League Cup or FA Cup games I used to go to.

One I didn't get to, and continues to be something I'll never forget, is Oxford United.

In the 85-86 season I went to every single home and away match - barring Oxford.  There was a major accident on the roads and the coach driver gave up at around 2pm - when we were a good 2.5 hours away from Oxford.

So, Woy's about to announce his squad.

Best comment on the whole thing so far is Gary Lineker on Twatter:  "Read a lot of newspaper columns over the last couple of days, headed 'This is who I would take to Rio'....... Who cares?"   :roflmao:

Edit: Suggestions Carrick will miss out say everything you need to know about the (lack of) style we'll be playing with...

No way will it be Moyes.  He's off to Germany according to most pundits over there.

I think it's a given that it'll be Frank de Boer or Pochettino isn't it?

Pochettino odds have come down dramatically today and I found it interesting that Rafa Benitez is now just behind those two.

p.s. did you note that Levy didn't acknowledge Sherwood at all in his end of season write-up?  All he did was slag the style of play off.  The man is a complete idiot.  It was him who blew most of his own money on a bunch of individuals who haven't gelled as a team.  If I was Sherwood I'd want out of there.  Whoever goes in next isn't going to get any better treatment (and that's why I don't think Benitez would take it, and I think Pochettino would tell him to get stuffed if he started on him).

He went up in my estimation with how he conducted himself at Chelsea.  Nobody should have had to put up with that rubbish.

He won the Italian cup this year too, and a 3rd place finish in Serie A isn't too bad (though I noticed the press considered this a failure as it was a place down on last year).

That said....he's still a lunatic.:roflmao:

Levy is mental. He thinks he's the worlds best businessman. Most Spurs fans think he's a cock.

Sherwood did ok points wise since he took charge but he's rather an odd character. He questioned the management and that was the end of his spell.

Not sure if de Boer wants to work for Levy, tbh.

I've just realised something.

Where is Billy2shots?

I can see he's last logged in today from his profile, but I am very disappointed he hasn't been and posted to rub in the humiliation of United this season!

I mean that too.  It's not a jibe.  He's a City fan, they've been by far the best team, Toure, Kompany and Silva have shown what world class players (and blokes to be fair to them, I've been very impressed with the conduct of those 3 in particular) they are and I woud have expected to have to sit here and take what is due to me.

I'd also hope he'd rub a little stuff into the noses of the scousers (just to make me feel ever so slightly better) and the Arsenal hype fans.

Bitterly disappointed in you Billy!  Your team has earned you the right to make my life misery for at least 3-4 posts, so please come and do it.  I feel a little aggrieved at not having to take the verbal pummeling I and my club are due!

I was wrong on Pellegrini.  He has proven he's no mug and he's there for the long haul, and I can see him doing very well now.

I was also wrong on Dzeko.  I'll happily admit that.

All in all, your team has made it a thoroughly miserable season (although admittedly I was supporting you all the way in the last few games just to make sure the scousers didn't win it) so I expect a bit of retribution from you! +++
