NewNiceMrMe
Yes, yes, yes, I did of course mean Daley but my mind was stuck with the name of his Father. I don't see why Dzeko or Negredo should have been sold though. Both scored crucial goals at varying points last year and without them you'd not have won the league. Mangala is a superb signing. City should have been straight in for Rodriguez.
billy2shots
Dzeko and Negredo did well at times but a Falcao or Rodriguez would be better. The other 2 would need to have been sold for FFP reasons and squad size. Not sure on Mangala yet, playing for Porto against weak teams is one thing but this is a big step up. I would have preferred the Moroccan defender from Roma who is World Class imho. Rojo the Argentine Sporting Lisbon player has handed in a transfer request with strong rumours he is set to join UTD. What must Luke Shaw be thinking? LVG saying he was unfit and now looking at other left backs. Edited August 12, 2014 by billy2shots
NewNiceMrMe
I think whoever signs Falcao will have two things. Firstly, one of the best and most creative players in the world. Secondly, all the worries in the world about whether or not he can ever be bothered or just decides he doesn't like the colour of the towels and doesn't bother coming in. He is notorious for his somewhat unstable personality at times. Rodriguez was probably always going to opt for Real anyway. When I think United could have had him for sub £40m not that long ago it makes me want to cry. I'm told it was Moyes who decided he didn't want to make such a big decision when he joined. Oh my, how different that might have been. Mangala is just perfect for the Premier League. Strong, massively hard working and I think Portugese players, especially defenders, have a generally good record in the English game. Both United and Chelsea seem very keen on Benatia. He's certainly going to be a lot cheaper but I wasn't very impressed with what little I saw of him recently. I watched the United v Roma game and he was at fault for one goal (in part) and didn't have a very good game. It does look like Rojo will join now, but Shaw will be No.1 choice. The only reason he's going to buy him is the exit of Evra and Buttner. Another player in that position was always going to be needed and I think it was just a matter of who. Luke Shaw seems to have taken the LVG comments very well and knuckled down. I have no problem with a manager telling a player he's not fit enough and if Rojo plays before Shaw, then so be it. I'm actually very surprised we seem to have got Rojo coming as easily as we have. Southampton have been trying to sign him for weeks now and I expected a host of other clubs to join in, because he was easily one of Argentina's best players at the World Cup. Koeman must be gutted to see his move for him scuppered. The only thing I don't like is that he has requested the move and stopped training. I don't mind a player asking to be allowed to leave, but I much prefer to see them stay professional to the end.
cruiser647
Once again, football management have a great way of showing gratitude, after having their premship status assured for another year. Ask Tony Pulis.
garcon magnifique
It was bound to end badly but the timing is just laughable. Pulis will now be the 'Top Gear Austin Allegro' waiting just out of shot for any middling Premiership manager who gets off to a bad start. He's a very good pundit but I can't see that being enough for him, he'll want to get back in asap. billy2shots
Let's be honest though. He had everything to lose and nothing to gain. What he did last year was brilliant and there was no way on earth he could match that again. Leave now with his stock at its highest and wait for a bigger job to come up. On a totally different note, I am surprised there has been no mention in this thread about the retirement of a Manchester Utd legend. A guy that has done it all at the highest level. Someone that could be counted on to pull a rabbit from the hat and snatch victories from the jaws of defeats. Howard Webb will be surely missed and so will the 6 points he guaranteed Utd every season. Edited August 15, 2014 by billy2shots

Pulis means Palace are down, plain and simply. The squad is shocking and their activity in the transfer market has been diabolical. Anyone would think they had Ed Woodward as Chairman. Chris, I've not put Fabregas in my FF team (moved the The Telegraph for some reason this year, though I'm not sure why - it's not my league). I had a mare last year even though I had very few United players in it all year. I think I finished 11th out of 18, having won it the previous year. I've followed Van Gaal and gone for 3-4-3 that I might switch to 3-5-2 mid-way through the season. I think this is going to be a goals-galore season in the Premier League. I've gone for an injury-safe start. Oh and Van Persie.

garcon magnifique
Losing to Swansea was a move of outright tactical genius by Van Gaal. After a successful pre-season some United fans were getting a bit carried away with themselves. This just brings them nicely back to earth. Besides, it is said a bad manager doesn't turn good players into bad ones, but it's also true that even if you replace a bad manager with a genius, shit defenders are still shit defenders.
