You have a team.  You have to support it come rain or shine.

I'm still taking huge amounts of stick now, but you know what it was like last season!  It was utter hell.  :roflmao:

I do find it a bit disappointing when the Arsenal fans in particular (I'm sorry, but they are streets ahead of everyone else in their fickle support of the club) disappear.  Liverpool fans do it too, so credit to you for showing face.

You've got to win and lose and give and take.  Give it as harshly and badly as you can (and FB people know I do :roflmao:) and take it in the knowledge you can wake up the next day and know you'll get the opportunity of revenge - eventually. :roflmao:

It is why football is the best game on the planet.

That's all true and you know I take my lumps but why the manager cant see the most basic thing (like how to set up a defence) or is too proud to get in help if he can't riles me week after week, game after game.

Last year we played fantastically (even without Suarez) with 2 up front.

So why he perseveres with 1 much much poorer striker up top now I have no idea.

The "B" team that played Real put in a great shift. So what reward do they get? Being dropped for the lazy "stars" it just sends out the signal "mediocrity is okay"

Oi I'm here too. I'm deeply depressed about the state of affairs, but was actually going to post the other day about how little activity this thread is receiving generally this season. Is everyone resigned to Chelsea waltzing the title?

I can't see Wenger resigning, despite Piers Morgans best efforts. I actually think we have the basis of a half decent team, if Wenger would just sign some old school decent strong defenders....

The piece on the Invincibles on yesterday's Football Focus was telling. That team was built on an impregnable defence and a strong central midfield, two things today's Arsenal squad are a million miles away from having.

It's fascinating that this seems to be the affliction for at least three of the supposedly 'big' clubs - Arsenal, United and Liverpool. The tried and tested method of 'build from the back' that brought these clubs such success in (relatively) recent times appears to have been thrown out of the window.

I'm not resigned to Chelsea winning it.  They'll deserve it.  He's put together and cemented a fantastic team.  I also think they might win the Champions League.

We will need a hospital attached to Old Trafford with the amount of injuries we have now.  The only bright light we have to come is that Falcao looks close to return.  Here we are in November, almost at the end of it, and he hasn't played a full match yet - but his absence has been the result of LVG not picking him or an injury that is completely unconnected to his knee injury.  You couldn't make it up.

Blind is a huge loss.  LVG has lost faith in Herrera if the rumours are to be believed, and Luke Shaw gets injured just as he begins to show his class.

Rojo is still out.  Jones, Rafael, and the list goes on.

But....

They've lost two.  They managed to beat Arsenal through the classic exposing of 'over attack' and absorbing it.  Why Arsenal couldn't see what was coming I shall never know.  Even the commentators were saying they were leaving themselves open to it before it happened - and when you have Rooney and Di Maria coming at you on the break it isn't going to end well (and it should have been 0-3 if Di Maria had finished like Rooney did).

I don't know where Arsenal go from here.  Wenger takes such much flak he should walk out.  He doesn't deserve it and it is a disgrace.  The people who say they should just go get Klopp make me laugh.  Why the hell would Klopp go there?  He's not interested.  He turned United down so he's sure as hell going to turn Arsenal down. :roflmao:

Then you have the fact that he (Klopp) might be getting sacked anyway.  Borussia Dortmund are in huge trouble in the Bundesliga now.

Pellegrini is well on his way to getting fired too.  I'm not sure that board of directors will put up with anything less than the league or Champions League - and they're not going to win either.

Liverpool are knackered.  He has been found out and the team is in tatters.  At least we have a few excuses with the mass of injuries, but Liverpool have Strurridge out and a fan base rightly asking why Rodgers decided £15 million on a loose cannon would solve their problems up front and replace Suarez!!!!

Southampton are laughing their socks off.  Probably the second best midfielder in the country in Tadic, the best defenders in the country (Clyne and Bertrand at the moment), a bargain basement striker up front who is scaring the shit out of people (Pelle) and a squad that looks as well knitted together as any in the league.

Ronald Koeman is either a genius or the luckiest manager in the world.  I'm not sure which it is right now, but the table doesn't lie and what they are achieving is up there with anything I've seen outside of the "Big 4" in the Premier League.  Remarkable.  Oh and whilst I'm saying it - it is also bloody good football to watch.

  • 2 weeks later...

The Hammers in third after their best start to a season = Happy Hammer

I've gotta admit to being wary of Christmas coming and the quite common bubbles fading and dieing. Maybe not this year though. Fingers crossed.

What result do I want in the Daz Vs Mrme game tomorrow ?

A draw would put Southampton above West Ham on GD.

A win for Southampton would put them 2 points above

A win for Man U would put them 1 point above

Easy decision - a draw would do nicely if you'd both oblige please!

Umm, it wasn't at Old Trafford.

Yes, they did win.  Guess how many times we've lost since?  Once.  To City when we were down to 10 men before half time.

However, just since that game, Arsenal have lost.....4 times. :roflmao:

That's correct. What MrMe forgets to say and I am sure many don't know is this.

Man U's starting 11 that day against City was the Most expensive starting 11 in British football history. I find that quite amusing given the stick Utd fans like to dish out to Chelsea and City supporters.

I believe the staggering cost is only beaten by Real Madrid.

What's even more remarkable is the Januzaj started and he counts as £0. SO the other 10 players make up the huge cost.

There has to be a joke in there somewhere about the most expensive team in British history yet Valencia played right back!
