Pearson sacked. No surprise and a blessed relief.

Please not Redknapp, please not Rednapp.

Ex City lad Neil Lennon will do.

No chance of Lennon.

He'll bring Bolton up next year and he'll not want to take over Leicester with the backing he now has in the Northwest.

Leicester (or others) should have taken him whilst they had the chance.  I am still amazed nobody did.  The job he is doing at Bolton is very impressive indeed.

I don't care.  It is superb news for football, if only because BT have been well and truly told "you're shit".  For once, I think the Premier League has looked at what BT was doing to the big weekend matches and decided it had to stop.  They have completely and utterly failed to make the viewing numbers they said they'd get and the coverage has been worse than dire.

The split is confirmed as...

Sky - 128 matches

Saturday 12.30pm matches

Sunday 1.30pm matches
Sunday 4.00pm matches

BT - 42 matches

NEW Saturday evening matches
NEW Friday evening matches
Any other midweek matches

I should think so!

I wonder if people will stop subscribing in any significant numbers?

No, they won't.  History shows that - subscriber numbers have grown, year on year, since inception.

Football fans aren't going to let a few quid each month (or a tenner, or whatever) stop them watching it.  What Sky give for the money is exceptional.

I didn't see the games breakdown. Thank God BT have lost out. Sky is such a brilliant programme and BT is so bad. Love some of the new times as well.

Hopefully Spurs will start getting that stadium built with the extra dough.

BT have managed to pay a lot less for what some might say are better games in some regards.

BT have only paid marginally more than they do now but Sky have had to go way above estimates and up to the point that they can pay no more in order to secure the rights to the games needed. As I said in the other thread they were scared of losing the games and did EVERYTHING it took to secure what they wanted.

Short term the share price will be good in that they have secured them again but if viewing No.s start to falter things might look a little different in 3/4 years time.
