Well done Man City.  I always subscribe to the view the best team wins the league and it is no different now.

They've now won their first title (the other doesn't count on goal difference).

But seriously, they deserved their win.

Commiserations to Liverpool. Not. :roflmao:

The season couldn't have ended better than for Gerrard to start the epic fail and the Palace game to allow the rest of the team to join in.:roflmao:

We all know what'll happen in the summer when toerag leaves.  Their chance came and went.  Another 24 years of pain in store for the scousers.

Chelsea should probably be kicking themselves for dropping points in what should have been easy games for them.  However, Mourinho has shown what a tasteless and dislikeable man he can be this season and he needs to take a long hard look at how he conducts himself.

Same old Arsenal.  Not much more to say on them, is there?

Excellent season for Everton and Martinez.

Spurs proved that £110m or whatever it was, spent by a clueless Chairman, can be a waste.  However, I think they did reasonably well to maintain their position.

My club?  Well the least said the better.  A season of disappointment sums it up.  But it has gone now.  We look forward to the future under Van Gaal now, because unlike the fickle glory supporters, I'll give my full support to whoever manages the club and wherever we finish.

Superb season for Southampton.  After all the Adkins comments and how it was the wrong decision to let him go, what a job the new manager has done.  Again though, will he stay?  No, of course he won't.  Nor will Luke Shaw, or Adam Llana.  Next year will be rather different for them, I suspect.

Newcastle?  Started so well, and how lucky is that?  If not they'd have dropped straight down through the Championship and passed Gateshead coming in the opposite direction, such has been their rate of decline.  God knows what happens to them now.  With Ashley in charge and Headbanger as Manager, who can guess?

Remarkable achievement for Tony Pulis in keeping Palace up.  I would never have expected that.

I also think Mark Hughes has restored some of his stock with how well he's done at Stoke.  They actually moved above Newcastle in the league today.

Swansea seemed to have done well after the Laudrup departure too.  Quietly so.

West Ham seem the ultimate in Allardyce's philosophy and the fans clearly don't like it, but he's kept them up for another year.

Now, Sunderland.  Well, well.  Who saw that escape coming?  Probably the best recovery from what looked like certain doom I've ever seen.  Remarkable from Poyet.

Aston Villa under Paul Lambert as destined to do nothing in my view.  I admire the Chairman for sticking with him but the fans will start voting with their feet before long.

A rather dramatic end of season slump from Hull, possibly with the FA Cup Final on their minds.  I think Steve Bruce has got them playing some very nice football and has done incredibly well this year.  I still think they might beat Arsenal in the cup final.  I do hope so.

West Brom should think themselves very lucky to stay up in my opinion.  Pepe Mel might have to work the same wonders again next year.

Norwich City got what the board deserved.  A disgraceful decision to get rid of Hughton and they paid the price.

Fulham were destined to struggle this year, I think most would say that.  The "Rene" affair was bizarre in the way they ended it and Felix Magath was never going to change anything there.

Cardiff.  Oh my.  Vincent Tan is such a loved fellow isn't he? :roflmao:

After he's invested so much money both he and Mackay (as he's now accepted a lot of blame for what went on) have managed to make a mockery of the club.  I feel sorry for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but I'm still completely baffled why he took the job on.

They won't be missed though.

Good summary except rather glibly glossing over your own many many failings without objective scrutiny and the team you were adamant wouldn't even finish in the top 4 lost by 2 points to the most expensive team in any world sport.

Great season for Liverpool, and agonisingly close to the impossible.

Only an idiot thinks it's a one-season aberration... +++

What more can I see about the club I love that I haven't already?

We have a season to forget - and forget we will.

Rodgers and Liverpool did remarkably well this year.  However, you know as well as I do that an opportunity arose that is not going to come again for a very, very long time.  They blew it and I'm only being honest.  Suarez will desert you and that changes everything.

If you think you'll do as well again next year then I hate to say it....I think you're awash with the emotions of a fan instead of looking at over-achievement this year.

Yes, we've had a remarkably good season. A top half finish was the aim for this year so we well and truly achieved this. Who knows what will happen over the summer. But considering that we were in administration in the 1st division 5 years ago we've not done too bad.

You know my stance on football but MrMe I'd like to understand why there is so much vitriol towards:

Liverpool - you seem really happy they didn't win, why?

Arsenal - you seemed delighted that their season crashed, why?

Chelsea - I don't recall anything about them, why?

Newcastle - you berate them a fair bit and you live there!

And Man City, who are supposed to be your (a Man Utd supporter) most evil of enemies as the local derby club, you congratulate and prefer to any of the other teams.

I don't get it. I'm not fishing here, I really don't get it.

City have never really been a massive rival for United - they have spent many years in a different division and have consistently been a bit of a joke. Even now, with the billions invested in them, they don't consistently fill the stadium and still resort to publicity stunts to try to get one over United. (ref: Owen Hargreaves and Carlos Tevez)

Liverpool and United is probably the most intense rivalry in the country - the 2 most successful clubs in the English game, both clubs have had decades where they've dominated and times where they've gone head to head to be the top club in the country.

It's also common for United fans to really hate Arsenal - mostly stemming from the behaviour of Arsenal players under Wenger during matches between United and Arsenal.

The funniest thing about Liverpool fans is that, over the summer, every year, they are convinced that 'it's ours next season' - they have a boom/bust cycle, which is often quoted... they usually start the season on a high, put a good run together, tell everyone it's their season, then crash and burn in November / December. The crash took a little longer to come this season, though... Just to put the icing on the cake this year was the printing of T-shirts and general celebrating the title with a month of the season to go.

Andrew, answers to your questions.

Liverpool - because they are unbearable and our direct rivals regardless of City.  No United fan with any sense of the club would ever want Liverpool to win anything.  City winning it is more palatable (as bitter as that is).  Their common claim is how badly done to or unlucky they are.  They're not.

Arsenal - because their fans remain of the view they're such a top team despite not having won anything for over 7 years!  And they're incredibly annoying too.  Oh and Piers Morgan is a fan, so that's enough anyway.

Chelsea - I don't mind them.  They're not as annoying as City.  Their manager is a total moron now though.

Newcastle - I have to put up with their fans.  Including Milo.  I shouldn't have to say any more. :roflmao:

City - I can't abide them as a club, but they'll always be third in my list of clubs I dislike.  Liverpool are second.  The club that shall not be named is first (but only just).

City have been the best team this year.  Their title is deserved.  I can say that without hesitation because I love football.  Kompany and Toure are world class players and the former is a superb example of how a footballer should conduct an interview and remain loyal.  I thought his interview with Sky on the pitch today as a fine example of how a club should be represented.  I think he's too good for them.

Please don't think I 'prefer' City.  I just couldn't cope with Liverpool winning the league.

And now the focus can calm for a few weeks - and then World Cup fever begins......

The only Word Cup fever here will be looking forward to watching Spain, Brazil, Belgium, Argentina (for Messi), Portugal (for Ronaldo) and other decent footballing nations.

England will be out in the first round and I certainly won't be up at 2am to watch them get stuffed.  The sooner they're out and Hodgson's 1950's tactics are gone, the better.  Hopefully the FA will then sack him and give the job to Redknapp as they should have done in the first place.  At least he'll play some creative football and be a lot less boring than the most underwhelming England manager I can ever remember.

I don't think I've ever been less excited in World Cup year than I am this time.  What the FA, Hodgson and our players have managed to deliver is the crappest side I can recall in many a year.

No I'm not.  I think he was the man then, and is now.

Sky Sports reporting that Manchester United have bid £27m for Luke Shaw

Oh and Ashley Cole has been left out of the England squad and won't be on the stand-by list.  If that's true then I think Hodgson has lost the plot entirely.  I expected Luke Shaw to go, but I also thought he'd take Cole.

Rednapp is as much of a dinosaur as Hodgson. Hopelessly naive out of date tactics for the international stage. We'd just lose by a bigger margin.

It's Cole or Shaw - you can't take both unless you're leaving Baines behind, which would be bizarre to say the least.

As for Shaw to United, I fear the worst for this summer but I didn't expect it to start so soon. This will just be the first of dozens of phantom bids that United may or may not have actually made for players that ultimately don't come to fruition. Nothing has been learnt from the farce of last summer - if the club insist on doing business publicly again they can expect to be humiliated, again.

(For what it's worth, Lallana to Liverpool and Shaw to Chelsea.)

Shaw to United is definitely not a phantom bid and I think you'll see that deal done very quickly.

Lallana to Liverpool?  Why would he join them?  Nope, can't see it myself (especially as £20m is nowhere near enough to get him - it'll be closer to £26-27m).

p.s. it's the Daily Mail that has started the Lallana one. :roflmao:
