We now have the following fixtures (League):

H - WBA

A - Sunderland

H - Southampton

H - Stoke

A - Fulham

H - Arsenal

A - Cardiff

A - Spurs

H - Everton

H - Newcastle

I think we'll be in the top 3 after those and fully expect no more than 3-4 dropped points.  I think there are 9 wins out off 10 there.

Just re-visiting this one... these 'easy games' aren't really working out, are they?

I hate the idea of chopping and changing like Chelski or City - but... sometimes you have to take a step back, admit you were wrong, and try to salvage something from a completely ****ed up situation.

Why don't you give the man a chance?

You can't expect him to take over the Prem Champs and win every game.  (although Everton are doing OK with their new man Mr Martinez!)

Because he inherited a side which won the title at a canter last season and has turned them into mid-table sloggers overnight, despite spending £27.5m on Sideshow Bob.

It's not the results - it's the way they're coming. Absolutely dire.

Look around Europe - when successful coaches move on, do the big boys settle back and think 'we need time for the new manager to adapt and settle in' - or do they expect the success to continue? - Maureen has kept Chelsea at the top, even Pelegrini is doing a solid job at City. Guardiola hasn't let things slip at Bayern, either. (And looking further into this, it seems that Pep realised that replacing the entire back room staff would end in tears, so he retained the existing senior coaching staff)

In the modern game, you can't afford to 'rebuild' like this - you have to qualify for the Champions League, or it's a very, very hard road to get back there again.

See that's your problem, with respect - thinking you were great last season since you won so easily.

Last season you won confortably but even you have to admit it was a suprise to everyone mainly because everyone else was so sh*t.

And now this season they have massively improved and you haven't but then again you have a guy who has not had a chance to see why you were still pretty dire last season and how to fix it.

Couldn't have put it better. They won last year in the poorest season I've seen for years. Too many teams were horrendously inconsistent and Man U were able to plod along and grind out the results. Only now the also-rans have got their act together. Man U are currently a (just) top 6 side, and were found wanting on the European stage several seasons ago.

I think people are hugely under-estimating the United side - don't forget that, aside from a very dodgy sending off, they'd have dumped Real out of the Champions' League, too.

It's a pretty strong side, overall - maybe needs a bit more in midfield, but you can't criticise the attacking players - and there's an awful lot of strength in defence - IF you play players in their natural positions!

I can't buy all this 'give him time' bullshit - there were a number of major managerial changes across Europe this season - and of the big players, Bayern, Barcelona and Roma are all comfortably stamping their authority over their domestic leagues.

The EPL this season is not really any better than last season - Arsenal have yet to play a top 10 side, Spurs have been inconsistent, whilst Chelsea and City have also mis-fired. Liverpool are doing their early season flattering, but will fade as time goes on.

Even if others have moved on... a team which walked the title last season shouldn't be floundering mid-table this season.

My day, thanks to Mrs M is revolving around the Tyne & Wear derby.

She is looking forward by this more than usual due to Sunderlands dire position and her need for revenge.

I've grown to enjoy these matches over the last few years as they are exactly what you want from a derby...tough, rough, and current form means nothing.

Usually guaranteed a red card too!

So on behalf of Mrs M (and for me to be able to have a good day) COME ON THE TOON!!

Great game between Chelsea and Man City. Torres has started to look like he did at Liverpool. He missed a sitter then made a goal and scored the winner. He worked his arse off and was a real handful. City must be gutted with the last goal, dreadful mistake.

Super Spurs got a dodgy pen apparently but we'll take that. And into the top 4. YIDS! (That's for a Scouser supporter!).
