Twinspark
Waylander - I have some Evertonian friends who are absolutely ecstatic that they've got Martinez over Moyes right now. And they've been saying this since the summer. They were absolutely fed up of being 'safe', but unexciting - and continuing not to win anything. Waylander
I know. I was teasing but I was also serious as I hear the same thing from the Bluenoses.

Twinspark
I give in. I know a glory supporter when I see one. A glory supporter who first started watching United in the bad days of Ron Atkinson, and was alive (although very young) when they were relegated? Your blind faith and optimism is commendable - but... if the answer is Moyes, the wrong question was asked.
NewNiceMrMe
There is no blind faith. In case you hadn't noticed, the greatest manager in football history has retired - yet you seem to think everything will tick along as if nothing had happened? This was always going to happen. No matter who took over. You're judging a man after 10 matches (and have been doing so from 1 or 2 games in). It is simply ridiculous to do it. You're the type who'd have had Ferguson sacked years before the success started. I just do not understand it. Manchester United are the blueprint for proving that greatness will come if you let a man build a regime. I still believe Moyes is the man to build that, and I'll be saying that in 2-3 years if we've won nothing. You remind me a little of a large section of the Arsenal support. Baying for Wengers head 4 months ago. Now he's a God. It makes no sense at all.
Twinspark
Difference... Fergie had proven success and had taken an unfashionable Aberdeen side to league and Euro titles.Moyes has won nothing - and has a reputation for playing decidedly dull and 'safe' football. Everton fans were happy to see the back of him, as he'd won nothing and played awful football. Yet we're supposed to be happy with the selection? We will always disagree on this one. NewNiceMrMe
Until we win trophies, which we will, at which point you'll join the rest of the flock currently asking for his head - and you'll think he's wonderful.

Tipex
It's a bit rich to attribute success to a manager, but not failure. You can't have it both ways, if the manager was responsible for the good times, then the manager is also responsible for the bad times, whoever it may be. Torino101
You remind me a little of a large section of the Arsenal support. Baying for Wengers head 4 months ago. Now he's a God. It makes no sense at all. BIG difference in wanting shot of a manger who hasn't produced a trophy for a big club in 8+ years to wanting the head of one who's been in charge for 12 games..... I'm still far, far, far from thinking Wenger is a god. He has been an excellent manager of over his whole tenure, but now his becoming a touch too belligerent to say the least. Luke
So the big question is, when will Levy sack AVB? January??
NewNiceMrMe
If Spurs lose to United in a few weeks, Levy will sack him then.
Andrew
See, this is one reason I hate football. Well, actually this happens everywhere in sport but in football it seems worse than other areas. You get a manager in, he loses a few games, people call for his head. I think managers should be given two years to improve - I fail to see how changing a manager all the time is good for a team or results. Anyway, back to the cricket and Andy Flower ... m4ttm4son
I'm saying nothing until after next weekend. Arsenal have to play Cardiff next in the EPL and they've taken points off a few of the big boys so far.
NewNiceMrMe
Bayer Leverkusen 0 - 5 Manchester United More boring football under Moyes. Fire him!
Twinspark
One swallow does not a summer make. Our 2 best performances of the season have been against Leverkusen, which probably says more about them than it does us. Good performance tonight, but on the back of a shocker at the weekend.

NewNiceMrMe
That'll be Leverkusen who sit 2nd, behind the European Champions, Bayern Munich, in the Bundesliga The same Leverkusen who haven't lost at home and who only Bayern could get a point off at home? Or a different one? Edited November 27, 2013 by NewNiceMrMe
Twinspark
Yes, that one. Sometimes, it just so happens that you can really get to a side - and destroy them whilst being a largely average side. A bit like what City have been able to do to United at times over the years. Or how United always seemed to have the upper hand over Liverpool in the 80s - despite never challenging them for the title. We've had a couple of decent games against Leverkusen in Europe, but looked average at best in the rest of our games.
NewNiceMrMe
How can you compare domestic games where you play the opposition twice every year, to Champions League football? And in case you'd not noticed, we're one of only 5 teams not to have lost a game in the Champions League. The others are Bayern, Real Madrid, PSG and Athletic Madrid. Barca have lost, Arsenal, City, Chelsea, etc. But you'll never be happy!

garcon magnifique
Has anybody else realised how quiet TS was during those four or five consecutive league wins for United? He's already beginning to sound desperate because they haven't lost since feck knows when (I can't even be bothered to check). The internet has produced a few oddities when it comes to football fans. One of those is the one who only pops up to say "I told you so" when the team loses, and will wait indefinitely to do so and claim the intervening 40 consecutive victories was merely a flash in the pan. I bet there was even an Arsenal fan or two who popped up to whinge when they drew during the Invincibles season.
