Not really a surprise.  I don't like the guy but he's still a world class player and if we get a season or two out of him it might be a worthwhile addition.

My worry is having him and Mourinho together.  It has all the hallmarks of a pending nuclear holocaust.

I listened to Trevor Sinclair and Kevin Kilbane on 5 Live talking about it.

Sinclair thinks he should stay - but didn't say he thinks he will.

Kilbane made the stronger point to me.  Vardy is 29.  He's spent most of his career in the non-league/lower leagues earning bugger all.  This is his last chance of a major pay day.

He has the chance to play in a side that, whilst inferior as a team overall, are technically better than Leicester.  He's a striker and a very good one at that.  Arsenal are desperate for a striker and have players like Ozil and Sanchez to provide the ball.  All the ingredients are there.  Arsenal can't pay the same as City, United or Chelsea but they will offer him a huge wage that Leicester simply can't.

Vardy also knows there is a very good chance Mahrez and Kante will be leaving.

Does he wait and see if they stay and get as big a wage as possible at Leicester or does he take the chance and the money at Arsenal?  If I was him, I'd be gone.

The other possibility is that the £20m trigger will mean interest comes in from other clubs.

I know one that needs another striker but whether Jose sees him as being of interest when they're going to sign Ibrahimovic, I don't know.  I think other clubs will come knocking now that Arsenal have started the ball rolling and he'll leave.   Where he'll go, I don't know, but I suspect it'll be to Arsenal.

Vardy having a medical at Aresnal tomorrow according to the rumours. Also Kante in advanced talks with Chelsea.

I'm not having a good day.

I wouldn't let it spoil things.  It was always going to happen in my view and we discussed in around January on here if I recall.

Vardy, Mahrez and Kante (I think Simpson might go too) were always going to leave.

The achievements of Leicester will go down in history but it was, in my humble opinion, always going to signal a huge demand for the players.

Aha.  There it is....

Sky Sports are reporting that Vardy was offered to Manchester United and Mourinho turned the chance down.

United pass on Vardy and Arsenal move to sign him

Looking elsewhere, it does indeed sound like he is either having a medical tomorrow and the deal will have to be completed before Friday and Euro 2016, or it'll end up having to wait until England exit the tournament a week later.. :roflmao:

If the deal is done it'll be interesting to see how he does at Arsenal. Tactically they couldn't be more different to Leicester. Tippy tappy keep ball simply won't get the best out of him.

That was mentioned too on 5 Live but it would also give them ability to change something that simply isn't working for them as things stand.

I get the distinct impression they are going to throw cash at Wenger for one last go.

Obviously, it'll fail.

Some repots coming out that Vardy has turned Arsenal down!

If that is the case you have to hand it to the lad. At 29 it was the chance for a massive pay rise and to be at a team that will be CL bound season after season (no disrespect to Leicester).

Personally I couldn't see him fitting at Arsenal at all given their style of play but what a sad state for Arsenal to be in to be turned down.

Great loyalty by Vardy or something else brewing?

The reports seem to suggest it isn't the advice Ranieri has given him as much as the advice fellow England players have given him!

Most say he has changed his mind after talking it through with other squad members in France.

If he does decide to stay at Leicester then I don't necessarily see it as a snub.  I simply see it as a Premier League championship winning player deciding to stay with the reigning Premier League champions.  Look at it like that and it sounds, and is, a perfectly sound decision!

I still think Mahrez will be off.
