garcon magnifique
Stunning that the godlike geniuses of Barcelona should manage to take time out from football to win the European Diving Championships in such dramatic style!

At least there was no pressure on the Ref. At the Nou Camp with 100,000 fans beying for blood a penalty. Phew. oh, hang on.......
garcon magnifique
I think the effectiveness may have had some kind of financial guarantee. Allegedly.
NewNiceMrMe
The result is an appalling inditement on football. UEFA's favourite team are officiated to the next round after cheating and diving for the full 90 (+5) minutes. Suarez and Neymar should have both seen red and the press are making it out to be some kind of miracle comeback. How on earth is it a comeback if the officials make it almost impossible for the opposition by not giving them fair decisions? Probably the worst result for football in a very long time. Hopefully Leicester pull it out the bag but Sevilla are top class in Europe.

NewNiceMrMe
p.s. on the other hand, I won't mind if they do progress because the Sevilla manager is a complete arrogant ****.

NewNiceMrMe
The thing is, the odds on them doing this weren't that good. They get interesting from hereon! (These are the odds prior to the competition starting in August). To make the knockout stages - 5/4To make the quarter-finals - 6/1To make the semi-finals - 25/1To reach the final - 50/1To win the Champions League 2016/17 - 80/1 Edited March 15, 2017 by NewNiceMrMe
billy2shots
Very poor odds as you say MM. 6/1 to make the 1/4s seems very tight. The bookies got stung with the Foxes winning the League last season and I think the game has changed for the near future. Edit. I write the above without evidence. Just checked the pre season odds and 1000/1 seems to be the big number with Bournemouth, Burnley, Boro etc. Sunderland were 2000/1 the highest odds so I guess the bookies were stung and are now protecting themselves Edited March 15, 2017 by billy2shots
Booster
I have £100 on the win at 100/1 and £50 e/w at 66/1. It couldn't happen again could it??!
NewNiceMrMe
No, it couldn't. Looking at who is left in now, I expect them to go out in a blaze of glory goals against.
Booster
Ha ha!!!! You are probably right. But I hope this is one of your great sporting predictions that go spectacularly wrong! Just like Paul Merson!
garcon magnifique
So, after our so called big clubs either failed to qualify or got ****ing hammered by teams they're supposed to be good enough to compete with, the last English team in this season's Champions League is ... Leicester City. Even if they progress no further than the next round, that's a great big **** YOU VERY MUCH to the "big" clubs. Well done Leicester!
