NewNiceMrMe
Sorry, we disagree. The fact is you've hated him from before the first ball was kicked. You conveniently forget too many things. Champions league group progression (SAF even failed at that on occasion). League Cup semi-final (however you cut it, it's a cup) The decisions we have had have been very harsh over the last 3 games. I had a Sunderland fan on the phone today, wetting himself laughing at the fact they got a penalty for the incident last night. He said "Even we could see it was outside the box, what the **** was he on (the linesman)?". He went on to say "We were never going to score. Why the **** did he make that tackle?". That is player criticism, not managerial. You and I will never agree. Had we got to this stage and you had just started to voice concern, I could be more acceptant of it. But you've been like this regardless. That is not support of any way, shape or form, and it most certainly isn't wanting the best for the club if you think a manager deserves hammering from the outset. Twinspark
He should never have been given the job. I cannot and will not support that decision. Out of his depth and he's surrounded himself with a bunch of similarly out of their depth yes-men.
Waylander
I had a little wavering when we strung 3 games together This is probably the most disappointing thing I have heard you say - that's all it takes for you to change your deeply held views is it? a small string of games? Heck even Woy managed that (I think - trying very hard to forget!)

Heck even Woy managed that (I think - trying very hard to forget!) There were signs that the old United resilience had returned. But I was just kidding myself - it was one decent win and a couple of scraped results against poor teams - as demonstrated as soon as a decent side visited. I hate seeing what's happening - it's probably, for me, even worse than the Big Ron days - at least those games had some excitement in them. You never expected a win, but you knew the likelihood was the game would be won by 1 goal or two in a several goal contest.
garcon magnifique
Maureen would have been a disaster. A couple of trophies in the short term, possibly, but apart from that just entertainment for everybody else.

A couple of trophies in the short term, possibly, but apart from that just entertainment for everybody else. He'd have managed the transition from SAF to whoever is a long-term answer. If there is such a thing in football today. He had the clout to attract decent players and the record to back him up. He wouldn't have been my first choice - Klopp was who I wanted - but the reality is that he's not finished at Dortmund yet.

Ah, I see, yes, Jurgen Klopp. The manager who has presided over a team that has picked up 4 out of the last 18 available points and is in freefall in the Bundesliga. Nice choice, I see your thinking there.

NewNiceMrMe
Why were the WHU fans having a go at Allardyce? What was he meant to do? Go sign Messi last week and Ronaldo yesterday? Even then it'd have been 6-4. I just don't get fan mentality at times. The league is the priority and City can go out and buy trophies. A net spend of £389m on players over the last 5 seasons, compared to what at West Ham?
Twinspark
I think he was brought in so they wouldn't suffer 2 massive and morale sapping cup defeats in a week. Big Sam is meant to put out physical teams who are stereotypically 'hard to beat'. He's not doing that for WHU - and if he's not doing that, there's not much point in employing him. NewNiceMrMe
You're not seriously suggesting he is at fault for Man City battering them 6-0? Everyone in the world (and on Mars) could have predicted that right now. City, with a full strength team, are firing on all cylinders. I don't think there is any blame whatsoever to be apportioned to Allardyce and I'll tell you why.... He put out the team most fans would have done. He played the tactics most fans would have done. They were beaten by a much better team. You do seem to have a very hardline approach with everything and everyone. Nobody seems to get a chance. "There's not much point in employing him". He's actually done incredibly well with West Ham and ultimately delivered them Premier League football. The players have let him down badly in the last 8-10 games. Again, too much emphasis on a manager when the people on the pitch kick the ball. Edited January 9, 2014 by NewNiceMrMe
Waylander
Last night I agree there was little he could have done but his entire tactics appear to have revolved around setting a team up for Carrol with no backup in the rare chance he is unavailable due to a loss of limb or something. WHU do not play as an Allardyce team atm seemingly
Twinspark
Well, if managers aren't to blame... why do clubs spend so much money on trying to attract the 'right' person? Seriously, I think you're massively underestimating the influence of a manager right now.
Twinspark
Now, maybe last night he couldn't have done too much more - but he should't be losing by that margin... however, the big one was at the weekend. Losing to that extent to Forest in the cup is unforgivable, surely? - and being in the bottom 3 of the EPL, too. That's not what you'd expect from Big Sam. NewNiceMrMe
But your attitude is just to sack them all. Now. No consideration for what they've done, no blame on the players, no blame on anything else, no consideration of the fact that sometimes you're just going to get well beaten by a much stronger team. See Garcon's comments about the Forest defeat. They have bigger things on their minds. Forest are doing well, pushing for promotion, and WHU gave the kids a chance - and they fluffed it. It was no big deal in the wider picture. I too thought the margin was big against Forest, but when I think about it you have to say....so what? They want to secure their Premier League status. It really didn't mean anything at all. Edited January 9, 2014 by NewNiceMrMe
garcon magnifique
West Ham fans have been patient, probably because they felt Sam had the experience to get them out of trouble, but I think most of them have had enough now. Sam plays ugly football, we all know that. If it does the job and gets vital wins to avoid relegation, the fans will put up with it. When it stops being effective and they stop being hard to beat then there's a problem. Sam couldn't have done much about the personnel he put out against Forest, but last night's team was a pretty strong one and the most disturbing factor was that they didn't try. They gave up, rolled over and accepted a humiliation. Any non-league side would have put up a better fight than those West Ham players did last night. That is why the fans are so angry. If Sam can't even motivate his players to put professional shift in then he's finished. If he doesn't go today, he'll go after they lose to Cardiff at the weekend. And I expect his successor will oversee a significant clear out. Some of that squad do not deserve to be professional footballers.
Milo
TS, what will your boss do if you make a few mistakes or a couple of bad decisions at work?
NewNiceMrMe
See I don't think they'll sack him. Who are they going to replace him with? Will Redknapp really want it? I fully expect Cardiff to beat them at the weekend. Solskjaer has clearly had some form of impact if you look at the manner of their win last weekend, and they'll be up for it with City players wanting to show him they deserve their place (a lot of the Cardiff players have been accused of complacency and not giving a **** under Mackay). As you say (Garcon), a lot of them have just been taking the money and not putting in anything for it. I hope WHU stick with what they said in their vote of confidence for him - as disconcerting as that can often be for a managers future.
Twinspark
TS, what will your boss do if you make a few mistakes or a couple of bad decisions at work? Depends on what you mean by a couple? Make a big mistake that costs the company lots of money and / or damages the company reputation - I'd probably be lucky to get away with a final written warning. That's pretty close to where Big Sam is right now. Consistently bugger things up over a 6 - 12 month period, with sales performance 20% down on last year? - I'd be getting a P45. This is where Moyes is right now.
