garcon magnifique
Lets see what happens. 4 days to get someone in. Pardew will not be happy if they don't.
NewNiceMrMe
Turns out they let him go for less than the release clause, just. £19m, but it could rise to the £20m figure they wanted depending on his performances for PSG.
Milo
It would appear it's more in the region of £22m, rising as high as £25m. Makes no difference to the club; it just means Ashley gets to buy a few more Debenhams shares.
Milo
Oh and if Ben Arfa is still at club for Sunday's game against the SMB, expect him to be gone in the summer. He's only got 18 months left on his contract and I fully expect Ashley to cash in, rather than offer him a new contract.
NewNiceMrMe
They're signing some bloke who has hit 6 goals in a season - he's a striker. Allegedly.
Milo
You should get a job writing for the Daily Mail... 8 goals in 23 Bundesliga matches after 39 goals in 76 games in the Dutch League. He's fallen out with the manager apparently and his confidence is zero. Just what we want, pfft. However he's only on loan until the end of the season, so if he fails to fulfill any potential he'll be shipped back. Strangely, we've been after him for years for some reason. He's not very errrr, well, French
NewNiceMrMe
Maccarone. Middlesbrough. Record goalscorer in the Dutch top flight. Came to Boro and.....does anyone even remember? The same has happened to De Jong in the Bundesliga. I wasn't necessarily slagging Newcastle as a club off - but I was slagging off how Ashley is trying to fob the fans off with a token signing who, on the face of it at least, appears to bear very little promise indeed. Milo
I've no doubt de Jong will be back in Germany in 6 months time. I just can't see it working. And I don't think many people are fooled by Ashley's 'one in, one out' smokescreen. I would've been happier if they'd secured Remy's services, rather than looking at losing him either back to QPR if they get promoted, or to another club if he keeps banging the goals in. I would imagine Ashley will be expecting to pick him up for £2m and that's not going to happen. The only signing Joe Kinnear has made is Cabaye's leaving card. The man is a just a fool. Luke
Arsenal drop points tonight, Liverpool brush Everton aside, Utd look a different team. A week's a long time in football. Also think BT sport is improving. Looking forward to Spurs v City tomorrow night.
NewNiceMrMe
RVP back after missing 11 games - that's a big loss. Rooney back after missing 5 league games - another big loss. Mata. It's too late to save our title (barring a miracle of all miracles), but the 4th spot will happen, hopefully at the painful expense of Liverpool. Calm Chris
There's quite a few teams that can say that about Spurs, I'd so hoped you would feck the Northerners. Maybe the lanky Nigerian twat will get luck.

NewNiceMrMe
City will win the title by a mile. Arsenal will finish 3rd. Chelsea will take 2nd. United will finished 8th. Or pip City. It'll be close.
Scotty
I'm a Happy Hammer ! Not just that they got a point from a tough opponent but that Mourinho is pi55ed off about they way they did it. Big Sam won the tactics battle on this one Shame Carroll fecked it up as that would have been a dream return to the starting lineup. Mid table and hence survival is back being a possibility. Milo
He's got a point though, Chelsea had 72% of the possession and your best defender was your record signing striker, who spent more time in his own box than Chelsea's. As a Newcastle fan, I saw how Alladyce's tactics could frustrate opponents, as well as pissing his own fans off. I appreciate they can be effective, but invariably make for a crap game of football. That said, Chelsea had enough chances to score last night and they may regret that game in a few months' time. Milo
And again we're seeing the same pattern emerging this season that has let Man U win the title quite a few times over the years. When one team slips up (on this occasion, Arsenal), those around them fail to capitalise. In the past, Man U's consistency has allowed them to pull ahead. There are a couple of differences this season, though. Man City are now getting into top gear and are becoming the consistent team. And Man U are struggling to recover from a disastrous first half of season and have joined the rank and file of inconsistent teams.

He might have point but it was utterly hypocritical (his tactics at Old Trafford, for example?)
NewNiceMrMe
I think Allardyce played it brilliantly last night. His comments about Mourinho are spot on too: "He can't take it, can he? He can't take it because we've outwitted him - he just can't cope," said the Hammers boss. "He can tell me all he wants, I don't care. "I love to see Chelsea players moaning at the referee, trying to intimidate him, Jose jumping up and down saying we play rubbish football. "It's brilliant when you get a result against him. Hard luck, Jose." Chelsea only had 9 efforts on target despite their domination. If West Ham had gone their and attacked we all know what would have happened. Instead they've got a point. Isn't football about doing what you can with the resources you have? He did that superbly.
Milo
There is an argument therefore that West Ham, with their resources, should aim for 38 0-0 draws and potential Premier League survival?
NewNiceMrMe
Why not? If it keeps them up now, he'll have rescued a season. Would West Hams like to go down with a series of 5-3 defeats? Or stay up with a mass of 0-0 draws?
