NewNiceMrMe
Rumour mill in flow now. Guardiola has somehow come in from nowhere as favourite to replace Moyes. Some suggesting he is unhappy in Germany and that his agent has contacted the Glaziers. What doesn't help it is that it follows some suggesting that Moyes is to be sacked if United don't beat Fulham this weekend. I do hope not, but nothing would surprise me now. Torino101
They should have got JM originally, they would be top of the league now if they had...... Edited February 4, 2014 by Torino101
Calm Chris
Gillingham could beat Fulham at the moment, so it's a fair call to sack Moyes should there be yet another blip in Man Utd's trophy less season.
garcon magnifique
No doubt Joke In 'Ere will have been in touch with the United board too. It's a dangerous time for all managers and DoF's now there's such a big dinosaur..... er, sorry... predator as Joke prowling around. I'm happy for Toon that the stupid old cnut has gone, but he's fúcked their season. As for Maureen for United I have said it many times before - No, no and thrice no. Let him tour his circus around the classless clubs.
NewNiceMrMe
They should have got JM originally, they would be top of the league now if they had...... Why? Mourinho is not a United manager. Never was, never will be. KInnear going is good for Newcastle. Shame, I was enjoying his success in the transfer market. I can't see Moyes being sacked. Let people have their moment, keep the digs coming, after 20+ years of unprecedented success it is only natural that lesser clubs (i.e. all) will want a season of giggles until normal service resumes. Waylander
Okay few things: 1) Joe f'kin-ear. How DARE you forget the season-changing acquisitions of Luke De-Jong and Loic-Remy?! Blimey that was a strange one eh. 2) Arsenal. I have to admit I cringed a little seeing a hardended supporter actually spouting the 16 seasons in CL as a "trophy-equivalent". It demonstrates stability sure, and yes it paid for the stadium. But the consistent lack of any silverware in spite of all the CL money demonstrates (to me) utter lack of ambition. I quite like Wenger and I would not at all mind Arsenal winning the league this season but to suggest the last 7 years is any but under-achievement is strange. 3) United. They have appointed Moyes. The transfer windows has closed. It would be a ludicrous time to sack him now. I feel it was the wrong appointment - and I have my suspicions on Fergie's motives but that is neither here nor there. He should be gone in summer IMO.
NewNiceMrMe
Remy has done well for them to be fair, but as I understand it Joe Kinnear had little to do with that. Arsenal fans were screaming for the head of Wenger 5 months ago. Fickle? No, not Arsenal fans.
Calm Chris
Yeah, just like ALL fans are screaming for Moyes head at the moment? Waylander it might seem tenuous, but are you saying that within a club that hasn't had trophies for years that nothing positive should be garnered from managing top 4 every year for 16 seasons on the trot? It might not be good enough, but it is something others (I will pick on Liverpool) haven't managed. It's is accepted that Arsenal haven't done well enough, haven't spent money (and couldn't for 3/4 seasons). However I'm very proud of the Arsenal performances over the Period given that adversity of trying to compete in a market dominated by clubs that could afford (and some not afford) to bring in very high value and salary players. Mistakes at Arsenal- loads. Yaya, being the biggest fishy Wenger failed to land- way back when, Kolo would have got him and yet it just never happened. NewNiceMrMe
Chri5, Manchester United did everything you mention - except we also won it twice and made another 2 finals. But, you won't be remembered for things you almost did and Arsenal continually failed to do a great deal once in the Champions League. They are the perennial failures where that is concerned. 16 years of qualification or 16 years of failure?
Waylander
Chri5 by all means pick on LFC - this is a discussion about football. They have also vastly under-achieved and are clearly ham-strung by the lack of money CL brings Yet despite that have managed to bring silverware to the party on more than 1 occasion over the same period. I was just suprised you swallowed the bait so easily and came back with the 16year CL answer.
NewNiceMrMe
Liverpool won a Champions League trophy didn't they? And a UEFA Cup. If I was an Arsenal fan, I'd be pretending to be busy instead of continuing this discussion.

S3Bangs
Chris, to be fair, I'd still take our champions league win over any time when we did or didn't qualify for it. I'd be inclined to be pissed off qualifying for it just even a mild 10 times and not winning it too. Just like I am them not winning the league. Waylander
Since near misses seem to count don't forget our loss in the final cancel's theirs out too.... And the odd FA and League cup....but yes we rail at the inconsistency and poor form. Which is why you having it and not pushing on is galling to semi-neutral Edited February 4, 2014 by Waylander

cruiser647
Swansea are missing Michu. Shows the difference he made to the teams scoring prowess. Without him - well, we know the outcome.
NewNiceMrMe
He'd not done that well before he was out to be honest. I know this because the useless fecker was in my FF team for the first few months and almost certainly cost me the defence of my title this year (yes, I know, how ironic). Waylander
Haven't really delved into Laudrup's managerial record but I have heard a couple of people pontificate on the radio that his reigns seem to follow the same pattern in that he has a great start then the teams seem to decline. Not cut out for the nasty stuff maybe?
NewNiceMrMe
I think it is one of the most bizarre sackings ever. The guy won them their first major trophy. They're 12th. Yes they've had a few defeats but are they ever in risk of going down? No. Unrealistic chairman who has got hacked off with people mentioning Laudrup in respect of bigger jobs. Laudrup has then never truly distanced himself from the prospect of such a move. Is that unreasonable? I don't think so! Swansea will now decline because yet again, just like West Brom, a chairman gets big ideas after a team has a single good season and thinks they're going to become world beaters on a budget. NewNiceMrMe
You should read the Swansea FC forums on the "Laudrup has gone - Official" thread. To say most of their fans are stunned would be an understatement. The best post is "Michael Laudrup replaced by Garry Monk - words the footballing world probably doesn't expect to read". and "There is the possibility of the most successful manager in our clubs history moving on at some point in the future, so we decide to remove those doubts and sack him. Genius." Edited February 5, 2014 by NewNiceMrMe
garcon magnifique
Meanwhile, Toon staff, players and fans alike are still trying to work out what exactly Joe Kinnear did, as rumours emerge he couldn't even persuade anyone to sign his leaving card.
