Luke
Really? Would any other player not have done the same. It is embarrassing but that's football in general. If you watched the game, you'd have noticed the unbelievable amount of diving, time wasting and the faking of injury by the opposition. So, please don't preach. Torino101
Really? Would any other player not have done the same. It is embarrassing but that's football in general. That doesn't make it acceptable or right. Football can be a total embarrassment to itself sometimes. If a player is shown to have been a play acting bitch after the game they should be banned for a lengthy period. It has to be stamped out of football.
Luke
Yes, but until they do make that rule every player will and does do it. And to single out a Spurs player is a bit pathetic. I can't wait to watch the next Arsenal game and see them all stay on their feet and not roll around in agony. And who is the worlds worst manager at NOT seeing the incident when it's blatant? I hate preachers.
m4ttm4son
I didn't see any of this game except this incident. If any player of a team I was supporting did this under any circumstances I would be ashamed. Being roughly treated and hamming it up a bit it is completely different. I don't approve of that either, but at least there was a foul in the first place.
Luke
How many times is the player not fouled and dives? I tell you what, every supporter in the Prem' should feel ashamed as it happens every game. Liverpool supporters would need a shrink, the amount of play acting Suarez does. Torino101
I'd be more than happy for it to apply to Arsenal players too.
NewNiceMrMe
Spurs cheated, that's the be all and end all of it. Through to the next round after cheating to get an opposition player sent off when they were getting nowhere whilst it was 11 v 11. If that makes Spurs fans happy then so be it. Personally I'd be ashamed of it. When Young dives, United fans are embarassed and say it. When Januzaj appeared to get blown off the ball by a slight breeze in his first few games, most United fans said so. He's cleaned his act up since then. Rooney too - world class player, complete shite of a person when it comes to 'loyalty' and money is clearly his main driver. So - Vertonghen is a cheat and Spurs should be ashamed of what happened. Calm Chris
Given how the game ended up, as a clear advantage to Spurs that is disgusting. There's not a game played that doesn't have elements on one upmanship, shirt pulls, blind sided elbows and the like. That was none of that, it was a blatant level of setting someone up to get them red carded. It's was wrong, and it taints what was an impressive end display by Spurs. Let's be clear here, I'm not spurs bashing, and I'm not prepared to tag that behaviour on a similar level to the simple last man standing, pushing, shoving or anything low rent that goes on in general. The ball wasn't even in play, big fine for the club (equal to all payment earned in the competition) and the club would soon sort the players discipline out. garcon magnifique
Football fans trying to get one over on each other when it comes to diving is an entirely pointless exercise. Every team has players who dive and simulate and you all know it. Mind you, when I think back to all the pathetic play acting that's gone on in Arsenal shirts over the years......... Waylander
Only just seen it. I don't see why you're getting so uppity on your high horse Luke, I really don't. garcon magnifique
No. Actually having finally watched the utter, indefensible embarrassment that is Vertognen's play acting, all I can say is I hark fondly back to the days when a player displaying such utter cowardice would almost certainly be destined to leave the pitch on a stretcher. NewNiceMrMe
Mark Hughes. United v Montpellier. Easily up there with that Sheffield Wednesday player (whose name I forget right now, was it Hyde?) as the worst feigning of injury I've ever seen. Hughes made out he'd been headbutted. By a bloke about 4 feet away from him. The referee bought it. I wanted to hide.

He makes Vertogen look like his out of World of Sport wrestling. That's my point. You're not shy in having a got at Suarez or anyone else. We just shrug, smile sheepishly (more often than not recently rale against the injustice) You seem to have gone off on one here and I can't see why *shrugs*
