He was poor last night and his antics aren't good for the game.

However, that is deflecting from the tactics Wenger deployed.  The gamble didn't work because the reality is he didn't take much of a risk at all.

The only way Arsenal had any chance of a result was to go out and attack from the outset.  I'm not saying I think you'd have won, but it would have been better to go out having given it a real go.

Tonight though, I think City have a chance.  Lescott will come back in for that useless Dewotsit to begin with.  Nastasic being out isn't good news but Barca look extremely vulnerable right now.  They almost certainly blew the league title at the weekend and that is Madrid's now in my opinion (which Madrid though?).

I won't be surprised to see City go through.  I'm not saying I expect it, but I won't be surprised if they manage it.

Arsenal's tactics seemed confused to me, and I really don't know whether that's down to Wenger or his players.

He dropped Flamini for Oxlade-Chambermaid to provide additional goal threat, but then the team's approach on the pitch would have made much more sense with Flamini in there. Yes they needed goals, but it was vital not to concede too, so I could understand a balanced approach in the first half. However the selection suggested all out attack because there was no way that eleven wouldn't concede.

Exactly.  Drop Flamini for Ox is surely bettered by playing them together?

Not conceding was one thing, but not giving the ball away constantly in midfield would have helped that.  I don't know who Rosicky thought he was playing for when he came on, but it wasn't Arsenal.

Cazorla had moments of madness too, for a player who is normally so good on the ball.  Ozil now out injured, well to be honest I wouldn't be shedding a tear over that.

It's not as if the Arsenal goal should even have been allowed to stand!

I bet Robben keeps his boyfriend happy. As soon as he's touched he goes straight down.

Not as good a return leg as last season, but not 7-0 like Barcelona got battered at Allianz last season. Just need two more wins to get a little FA trinket and have a better season than last.

FA Cup and Top 4 and I'd have bitten your hand off after the 1st match of the season. Raised fans hopes massively through the season but realisticaly we weren't going to stay the distance for the premiership title.

Now we just need to acheive the FA cup and top 4........

I think we have a chance of overturning our deficit.

However, it's a slim chance.

I won't be surprised if we get it back to 2-2 on aggregate, or even 3-2, and then concede a late goal.  That seems the way of things this season and I've just decided to write it off.

Next year clearly isn't going to be one of Champions League football unless we win it, and that isn't going to happen.

I still support Moyes and the club stance.  If players are unhappy and have to go, then off they go.  The press are doing their utmost to create havoc and it isn't helping but was bound to happen.  Evra and Hernandez both have 'exit' stories running at present, yet both agents have come out and said it is utter rubbish.  One (Hernandez's agent) even said that even if he recommended the player to move that he wouldn't want to.  Moyes has said he has never even thought about letting Hernandez go.  So the hounds are doing their best to stir the crap.

I don't think Moyes has helped at times with his handling of the press.  He has, all too often, looked startled and afraid.  Now I think we're seeing a harder edge to him and that was what was needed from the outset.  However, I can forgive him the rabbit-in-the-headlights appearance in light of who has taken over from and the sheer gravity of the club as opposed to that poxy little blue thing down the road (oh and City too).

If we can scrape a win against Liverpool it would set up the return leg against Olympiakos nicely.  They're romping away with the Greek league title but we should be beating these clubs easily.  If the players have the right mindset, it'll happen.

However, there is one thing Moyes has to start doing.  Now.

Play Januzaj.  Every match.  He cannot be left on the bench.

Come on then Luke, explain that one away. :roflmao:

Sherwood and his honeymoon period are finished.  His conduct is baffling.

p.s. in case the above is misunderstood, he was provoked but he shouldn't have approached the Benfica coach.  However, having done so he should have decked him.  What an arrogant little prick that man is.  Sherwood had more reason to panel him into the dug out than most other managers have ever even got close to.  When the guys own back-room team are shouting at him and telling him he's lost the plot, you know something is wrong.

I didn't see the game tonight. I've just seen the spat though. Glad that Benfica weren't playing Newcastle, I think AP would have shot him. What a complete and utter twat the Benfica coach is.

Sherwood is trying to be an old school manager, being tough with his players. Those days are over. No manager publicly berates his players. They take the heat themselves and deflect how poor the team were. Everyone knows TS won't be there after the summer and the players are yet again in limbo. It will be 3 different managers in 6 months down at The Lane. Levy is a laughing stock yet again.

In a way I felt there was a degree of justice played out last night.

There is no way Spurs should have been there after the Vertonghen incident and the impact that had on the last result.

Benfica are a very good team indeed and I don't see any shame in getting beaten by them.  United have been there even when we were doing well. :roflmao:

Sherwood needs to calm himself down though.  I doubt he'll let Wenger get to him.  Does Wenger get to anyone these days?

If you've got Sky Sports 1, get it on now.

This is going to be a superb interview with Jose.

Two men sent off, then he's sent off, and they lose 1-0 too. :roflmao:

He is going to be raging. :roflmao:

p.s. No way was Willan a sending off and Chris Hoy clearly has an issue with Chelsea/Mourinho in some way.  However, after that they lost it.

You can see him seething.

Prefer not to comment.

Prefer not to comment.

Not want to speak.

If I speak I am in big trouble and I not want to be in big trouble.

I prefer not to speak because I will be accused of bringing the game into disrepute.

Referees just refuse, they refuse, cannot speak with me for 5 seconds.  No.  So I have to accept I am nothing and go home.

Mr Foy not give me 5 seconds.  I have to accept.  I prefer not to speak.  Really.  I say nothing.

I ask for 5 seconds for one simply question, I have no chance, I am sent to the stand.

One question.  Just one.

It was funny, very funny, but I'd have much rather he did what he wanted to.  That was to wreck the entire interview set and everything around him. :roflmao:
