garcon magnifique
That's bollocks. You're just making stuff up to try and fit your argument now.
Twinspark
It absolutely isn't bollocks - it's exactly what I've seen on various forums over the course of the season. Did anyone really start the season with an expectation that United would struggle to even get a Europa place? We're never going to agree on this, though. garcon magnifique
You're taking the opinions of twelve year olds on Internet forums as representative? As I've said before my own expectation for this season was that top four would be a major bonus. And would have been whoever took over. And my own local research suggests that is a common opinion amongst real United fans who can remember before the late nineties. Twinspark
*sigh* Yes, that's right, they're all 12. Even those who were there in the days of the Doc.
garcon magnifique
There are a few deluded older fans too. The Doc is one of them, although I think booze is largely to blame for that.
NewNiceMrMe
United have the best away record in the Premier League. Last night they held Bayern until the 60th minute, took the lead and then made a school boy error. Not Moyes, but the team. Then Bayern showed their class. You seem to think he made tactical errors. I don't think he did. He simply lost to the better team on the night who showed their class when the players on the pitch allowed them a glimmer of hope. Up until then, did they look like they'd done something tactically masterplan-like? No. RVP has been out for god knows how many games. He wasn't last year. Rooney, the same. Vidic, Ferdinand, the list goes on. Not excuses, but viable and completely plausible reasons as to why we are not in the Champions League places. Woodward fecked up too, lets not forget that, and he won't do it again. This time next year we'll be in the run-in for the title again and United will be there or thereabouts. I'm not saying we'll win it, or even finish second, but we'll be there. He made a superb signing in Mata, you admit that. Well he'll make more. I admire the man for putting up with the crap he is. The volume of pressure on him would make most people, including me, crumble. I'd have been out long ago and gone for the quiet life. But, above all else, I really DO NOT CARE if we don't win anything ever again! I really don't! I have had a lifetime of glory from that club and they owe me nothing. I could die tomorrow and be one of the happiest football fans that has ever lived.
NewNiceMrMe
Champions League Semi-Finals draw Chelsea v Athletic Madrid Real Madrid v Bayern Munich I see a Real v Athletic final. That would be a peach of a game. I can't see Chelsea getting past the attacking power of Athletic Madrid. They tore Barcelona apart and the 1-0 scoreline flattered Barca. Torino101
Chelsea were going to be underdogs against any of those teams but I think Maureen would have picked Athletico as the 'easiest' of the three.
NewNiceMrMe
I doubt that. Top of La Liga, destiny in their own hands in respect of that and a quite superb team. I think he'd have preferred the team he knows best - Real. To be honest, I think Atletico are a bigger threat to Real winning it than Bayern are. They're a tremendous team. Torino101
This is to all intents and purposes uncharted territory for Athletico though, Real and Bayern are very old hands at this....

NewNiceMrMe
I think he'll have been gutted to draw them. In fact Chelsea could have probably beaten Bayern and he knows that. Real Madrid they could definitely beat because I think he's someone who has their number (I still think they'll win it anyway). I'm stunned at the expectation of people (on the BBC and Twitter, although most seem to be about 14 years old) on seeing the draw (i.e. so few favouring Atletico). My favourites, in order, are now as follows: 1. Real Madrid 2. Atletico Madrid (and very close to Real) 3. Chelsea 4. Bayern Munich I know Bayern ultimately smacked us 4-2, but the fact is they looked beatable for the first time in a long time because of how United set themselves up. Real will have noted that. Mourinho sure as hell will have (and he's got a much better squad than we have). Ancelotti is no mug and over two legs Ronaldo and Bale will not be controlled like our front men would. I think they'll beat Bayern by a couple of goals. Edited April 11, 2014 by NewNiceMrMe
garcon magnifique
People purely going on reputation alone, some who probably should know better. I wonder how many of them would be shocked if you showed them the La Liga table.
NewNiceMrMe
Aha. Nail. Head. Hit. Guy on the phone this morning, client company, he's a Chelsea fan. He's 22. To be fair we have lots of good chat and such like and he was laughing about United (not unusual, he's had a ball this year). Anyway, after the draw he rang. "What do you think then? Who will we play in the final?" I was polite (they're a client after all even though he's got no influence it never does to tell him to f*ck off). After a minute or two he said "You don't really think they (Atletico) could win do you?" I asked if he'd seen the league table in Spain. I don't exaggerate this at all.... He went online, looked it up and moments later I got this down the phone: "Eh? They're top? Oh. I thought they were mid-table or something. Oh, so are they any good?" garcon magnifique
Has it reached the point where Wenger should suffer the ignominy of being sacked during the season?
garcon magnifique
And I suppose the follow up question is does fluking it to the final against a better Wigan side only to lose to Hull make any real difference?
NewNiceMrMe
I was just about to say, in some ways it will be all the more sweeter when Hull beat them at Wembley. Out of the Champions League places now (we'll finish above Arsenal the way things are going) too. Edited April 12, 2014 by NewNiceMrMe
