Waylander
It's slipped away already surely. To go from 143-5 to end the day with over 300 and still have 4 wickets in hand is great for Oz
billy2shots
We need to work Smithand Haddin out as they are a constant thorn in the side. Come to think of it so is Johnson with his quick runs. Could someone tell Carbery he needs to try and catch the ball whilst fielding. He dolied a catch last test and god knows what he was doing this morning. 40c mind is bloody hot. Quick and bouncy but batter friendly seems to be the general thought on the wicket. With that in mind I can see us getting to 250 runs in our first innings..........
NewNiceMrMe
It's over. Gone. Done. Dusted. Not a hope in hell of us winning this test. They'll probably bowl us out for under 200 runs.

Andrew
So much hope with Cook and KP when I turned on. Cue Geoffrey suggesting Cook was playing well as a result of his missus in the crowd, next ball, caught.
NewNiceMrMe
I got up at 6.30am to watch this crap. Stupid move.
billy2shots
Cook was a million miles away from playing well. A couple of early drives but the rest was hard work. At least he toughed it out to a decent score. KP again can't buy a run at the moment and Siddle really has got it over him.
Luke
Never seen our players in such bad batting form. It all looks such hard work. We need Bell to get a big score and stay at the crease. He did it last series and we really need him to do it again.
billy2shots
This is turning into a joke now. Obviously starting this thread I new we were doomed but I thought we may make an improvement somewhere along the line. 250 ffs, and that's our best first innings score of the series. Bangladesh would be scoring more runs than us in these circumstances. Mitchell fecking Johnson has scored more runs than any of our batsman according to Beefy. Yes the Ausies are at home but they are not a great side. They hadn't won in 9 tests before the series started. No so long ago we were ranked one in the world, how long until we slip to 5th? Piss poor! Just checked the stats and Carbery our highest run scorer has 10 more than Johnson. He has batted a couple if times more though so Johnson's average is much better than any of ours. This series so far, total tuns scored. Warner (Aus) 441 (still batting) Haddin (Aus) 320 Clarke (Aus) 308 Smith (Aus) 171 Carbery 157 lol Rogers (Aus) 156 Cook 154 Johnson (Aus) 147 Can't win cricket matches with those scores. NewNiceMrMe
I fall for it every morning. Wake up early, straight to the iPad, Sky Mobile, Sky Sports 2.....swiftly followed by misery. 183-2 now so a lead of 317. We can't reach 300, never mind a lead of 300 with 8 wickets in hand.... billy2shots
How crap we have been in this series can not be exaggerated. Hopeless, pathetic, these words are not enough to describe our ongoing performance. Test cricket should be 5 days of back and forward. One day one team is on top the next the other. The result should be in doubt until the 4th or 5th day. By the end of day 1 in each test we have been in an unwinnable position, but 2 1/2 days we have lost. We have been intimidated by them and we do look scared. Trott running home to his mummy has summed up our fighting spirit. Who do we replace a quality batsman with? Stokes! An all rounder of little note. James Taylor, nick Compton, Gary Balance all batsman but we pick stokes!
Luke
This series was decided when Trott went home and our reaction to it. We blamed the Aussies for being mean to Trott and the team and asked for them to please stop it. That's when we lost.

Waylander
Aah ok I get what you mean. Still don't agree but get it. It's like when I stayed up years ago to watch the start of the first test and Harmy bowled the first ball to 5th leg slip. turned it off then as "series over"
Andrew
I don't agree either. Trott and sledging isn't the problem here. It might be complacency, it might be tiredness or whatever, but it isn't Trott. We won over here with Trott on gash form didn't we. Boycott spoke a good summary on TMS just now. I'll still be putting in for the Lords India test ballot though! Edited December 15, 2013 by Andrew

billy2shots
By a team regarded as the second worst Ausie side to ever come to our shores. The fact we had to rely on the weather to finish the job rang alarm bells in my head back then. Oh and Stuart Broad is a w4nker. "I might bat tomorrow depending on the situation". How about I will bat regardless as my country needs me to stand up and be counted. No heart just like the whole team. I'm sorry your foot is hurting but we will be batting to save the Ashes so you should be out there even if someone has to carry you out there. Once again we are showing how weak we are. Busby
Oh dear, oh dear. Every morning I switch the radio to find we've done even worse than I thought we could have. They smash us for 134 in 17 overs and then get a wicket with the first ball of the innings. Add to that the pitch falling to pieces and 504 may as well be 1,000,000. Can we bat for a day and a half? Waylander
Bbc text commentary summed it up succinctly: Basically, England have had a shocker. they may as well have been talking about the entire series.
garcon magnifique
There was an article on bbc online yesterday basically describing it as the worst day of the series so far. Not because England had performed any worse than any other day. Just due to the realisation that this series is only half over... P.S. KP - YOU COLOSSAL TW4T!!!
