Hi guys/gals.

As I have posted on the main thread for the latest 18 - 30, I am willing to help ensure we all end up together for the night before/after to maximise the enjoyment for the event.

To do this, as a starting point here is a copy/paste from the earlier post, this is open for discussion/suggestions, and are merely my first thoughts on the sublect collated in one place.

To get the best idea can you please give whatever input you can as the more feedback you ALL provide the more likely you are ALL to enjoy it.

History.

I know Skeggy has been mentioned before, but my PERSONAL opinion is that it is too far away! Even Nottingham is closer FFS!

So you will pretty much ALL have additional (Lincolnshire back-roads, where Massey Fergusson is King remember) mileage to do to get there & then you will need to get to Blyton the next morning.

Based on that here is my first pass at viable options including the pre-requisites we all want!

My Opinion

Based on several assumptions I think either Sheffield or Lincoln for the night before would be the easiest fit based on the following assumptions.

1.         Several/most people will be traveling to get there and so good main road/motorway access will be helpful.

2.         Some will be a bit precious about their cars/gear, so good safe/secure location & parking is going to be a pre-requisite.

3.         Easy/quick onward travel to Blyton will be good for a predicted early start on the Friday.

These assumptions would point me to the following hotels (info from booking.com)

Fun Option.

Sheffield.

Novotel – 5 min walk from centre 12 GBP to park.

60 parking spaces 1st come 1st served, CCTV in car park, barrier entry, overflow is to Q-Park just 200yds from hotel with CCTV & gated access.

Price per double/twin room 49GBP. (Other options available)

Cultural Option.

Lincoln.

Holiday Inn (not Express) – 5 min walk from town centre 5 GBP to park.

Parking is secure & attached to the hotel.

Price per double/twin room 81 GBP including breakfast. (Other options available)

Coupled with the above, there is also the option of the night after for those still around.

Obviously this could either be the other of the above, the same again, or somewhere completely different, any suggestions for additional homework would be more than welcome.

Additionally if there are significant contingents travelling from particular areas this could be worthy of consideration too.

FEEDBACK would be helpful.

Is there any option without a Novotel or Holiday inn? a Premiere inn would do, or even a Travel lodge so long as it's been face lifted!?

Personally I'd have though S****horpe would be more fitting to the event?

I'll go wherever though, may well be travelling home afterwards now though so probably just the night before.

To be honest they were respectively the closest to each town centre with decent/secure parking that I found.

I will have another look in case there are similar options.

Give me an hour.

I'm travelling from the proper north so Sheffield is a better option for me. The quiet option is the Premier Inn at Scünthorpe with a T_S favourite beefeater pub next door. Probably worth it just to hear Tipex abusing the facking staff ;)

Quiet Option.

S****horpe.

Travel Inn– 20 min walk from centre free parking.

Car park is not secure, but due to the position of the retail park I doubt there would be any problems.

Price per double/twin room 29GBP. (Other options available)

OK Guys & gals, here is an updated list with further options on Sheffield & Lincoln that seem to also fit with our requirements.

PLEASE NOTE that is Skeggy wer to be used as an option I have just chosen the 2 biggest hotels in Skeggy as there are approximatel 16 million 'Auntie Mary's B & B rooms' available also, and I obviously don't have that much time on my hands to research these & they generally only hav 2 or 3 parking spaces available anyway.

Fun Option.

Sheffield.

Novotel – 5 min walk from centre 12 GBP to park.

60 parking spaces 1st come 1st served, CCTV in car park, barrier entry, overflow is to Q-Park just 200yds from hotel with CCTV & gated access.

Price per double/twin room 49 GBP. (Other options available)

Sheffield Option 2.

Premier Inn (Angel St) – 5 min walk from town centre 8.5 GBP to park.

Car park is ample and secure with locked gated access.

Price per twin/double 87 GBP

Cultural Option.

Lincoln.

Holiday Inn (not Express) – 5 min walk from town centre 5 GBP to park.

Parking is secure & attached to the hotel.

Price per double/twin room 81 GBP including breakfast. (Other options available)

Lincoln Option 2

Premier Inn – 5 min walk from town centre parking is 4 GBP to park.

Car park is not exclusively the hotels, it is a council car park nearby and is manned until 12PM & has CCTV.

Price per double/twin room 64 GBP.

Quiet Option.

S****horpe

Travel Inn – 20 min walk from centre free parking.

Car Park is not secure, but due to the position of the retail park I doubt there would be any problems.

Price per double/twin room 29 GBP. (Other options available)

Far Eastern Option.

Skegness

Royal Hotel – 10 minute walk from the town centre free parking.

Car park is the hotel’s own & has SOME CCTV COVERAGE.

There's a Premier Inn 2 miles out of Lincoln centre. Car park not secure but one would hope cctv'd.

Ah... Google maps doesn't keep up with the pandemic spread of new Premier Inns!

P.S. Looks like Lincoln City Centre Premier Inn is only an option for night before - getting no availability for Friday night.

International jet-setters that we are.
