Want a decent stylus for your iPad?

As a side note if you're ok with the soft stylus type then the LiveScribe 3 maybe a better fit? Digitises whatever you write with the proper pen straight to your phone/iPad, but the other end has a soft wide-stylus on it. I find that quick & handy for diagrams and the like, but impossible to write with.

To be fair though, my writing is utterly terrible. If you have relatively good handwriting I reckon you may get away with the soft stylus?

I can write a lot quicker, and more accurately, than I can with the on-screen keyboard. I find the on-screen OK for the odd sentence, but some of the stuff I do involves 2/3 pages of detailed note-taking. That's a 'proper' keyboard or notes, an on-screen doesn't cut it for me.

I get it's quite subjective though.

To give you an idea, my notes from a spec meeting today involve multiple diagrams, and about 9 pages of notes - including some maths (and some Patently baiting/bet losing). That would be a nightmare to type out on an iPad. That's why I used to white-paper stuff and then scan for record the important stuff. Going straight to the iPad for notes for me saves me a lot of effort, and I find it more workable.

I use meeting recording for some stuff, but in some cases (think banking, local gov, and defence) you're not allowed to record. Bizarre I know, but them's the rules.

Actually, on the LiveScribe it does audio recording as well - it also matches up your drawing the to the audio! That's very cool and quite handy as you can hear the conversation about why you're drawing what you are!

How are you finding the latest Penultimate Mac?

I must have downloaded the previous version, and was impressed with its intuitive layout and results with doodles by hand.

While I waited for a stylus to arrive they seem to have updated the software, and it doesn't seem anywhere near as intuitive, I find it awquard to navigate and I'm finding writing ( what it's designed for) a PITA
