NewNiceMrMe
Manchester City have offered €200 million for him. All over the Spanish press, City not commenting, but the senior Barca report at the biggest Spanish daily is saying he has had it confirmed - and they've rejected it but may decide to sell this summer... Twinspark
It's just getting silly now - the game is nothing more than a pissing contest between billionaires. Even with the reduced levels of Chelsea spending over the last couple of years, they're still nowhere near sustainable as a business - should Roman stop ploughing money in, they wouldn't be able to meet the wage bill at the end of the month. Having seen what's just happened to the Birmingham City owner - just how utterly füked would City be if something similar happened there? - they wouldn't make it to the end of the season, as they'd need to sell players to pay the bills, which they couldn't do until the summer. Milo
It's not on; overseas owners pouring hundreds of millions into a club. I bet it's all debt too. And then there was man city
Twinspark
That's another issue - and one which United fans generally fought against, too. But to do that, the business has to be run profitably, which is something that isn't happening at clubs with rich benefactors. No longer can you work your way up the league through finding an up and coming manager and some promising local lads - you now need a benefactor, no matter which level you're doing it at. We're one step away from an American style franchise operation, with promotion and relegation being a result of cash and votes rather than success on the pitch. NewNiceMrMe
Pellegrini has reacted by saying the reports are "Just rumours". Whether that's a denial or not is something else, or whether the Qatari's have told him or not is another matter...but the Spanish press remain adamant that City are trying to buy him.
