johannmendelsohn
I have a Picasso that keeps on jumping out of 5th gear when you lift your foot off the accelerator on down hill. Someone mention engine mountings. Does one have to tighten or adjust! Also brakes making an awful sound when slowly braking. Pads are new! Thank you. E-bmw
If it is engine mounts they will need replacing, and it is quite a big job, but is DIY do-able. Pads are new, but are the discs? Could be that the pads have picked up rust/debris from the discs or during the fitting process.
TP27
You could trade it in - I take it's less than a year old?
Tipex
Best option would be to torch it.
E-bmw
Disposal by fire seems a bit harsh.......... But then it is a Citroen, so, OK torching it is.
Tipex
It ensures no one else ever has to suffer it, consider it a public service.
TP27
Pretty consistent advice here - on balance, trading it in may be over optimistic and therefore I'll have to agree with the others - just torch it.
Cuprabob
Based on a very old fact that shit doesn't burn, torching it may not really be an.option.
johannmendelsohn
Thanks E-bmw! For the rest, do you all drive untorchables?

NewNiceMrMe
I once wanted someone to torch a Z4 for me. Nobody wanted to. Evil b*stards.
patently
Re the brake noise, is there plenty of coppaslip on the back of the pads?
garcon magnifique
I once wanted someone to torch a Z4 for me. Nobody wanted to. Evil b*stards. We were enjoying your agony too much. New pads on old-ish discs can be noisy to begin with. Are the discs scored?
Tipex
Cheap pads will be noisy no matter what, so check what's been fitted if you don't already know, if it's something with an obscure name like 'Eicher' then you're stuck with the noise. I happen to know from personal experience that driving with Eicher pads is like scraping your nails down a blackboard. E-bmw
We all have different experiences, don't we, I have a full set of Eicher discs & pads on my 530 & have no issues with them at all. Even up to a few months ago when I had to do an EMERGENCY speed reduction from over 120 to 45 (on the Autobahn) in VERY quick time (fecking white vans!) and still say they are fine. E-bmw
Thanks E-bmw! For the rest, do you all drive untorchables? Although, just to keep a balanced opinion, I did also recommend torching after my good advice........ Or was that the good advice.......... Did I say that or think it?................. I get them confused all the time!

I'll never touch them again, they are half the price of anything else and it shows! I'd put money on it that had you had to do a second emergency speed reduction, you would have been wearing the white van on your bonnet, they fade very quickly, it doesn't even take spirited driving, i've felt them fade just driving down winding country lanes! E-bmw
OK, point absorbed, they are unfortunately in nowhere like need of replacement, but I will keep my eyes open for any signs & treat accordingly.
Tipex
So long as you keep it in the back of your mind when driving, you should be alright. I put mine in myself, and then went to my mechanic thinking i'd done something wrong, he pissed himself laughing at me when I told him what brand i'd used, ECP specials he said! E-bmw
These were on when I got it, I normally use Mintex, AP, ATE, Pagid, or Ferodo.
garcon magnifique
I put some Pagid pads on my Impreza. They squeaked like fook but my word they worked. Main problem was they wore out the standard discs!
E-bmw
Pagid are the only pads I will buy for the track day car.
garcon magnifique
They were impressive. Helped (a bit) to make up for the piss poor single calliper brakes on the original Mk1 Impreza.
