Scotty
I've just hadn't first one as I've just turned 45. I'm a bit over weight, I don't do enough exercise and don't have the very best diet I could. That's not what I was told that's what I know. I came out with a mark of 6% where anything lower than 10% is a green light top pass. That's crazy!
NewNiceMrMe
Why is it crazy? A "bit" overweight is hardly going to see you classed as in danger, is it?
Scotty
It's crazy coz I should be nowhere near the top of the list? I thought I was average i.e. "I'm a bit over weight, I don't do enough exercise and don't have the very best diet I could" If it had been 10-20% and "amber" then it would have made more sense to me. I just think the test pass mark seems way too low. I'm off course happy with the result but to be honest I've no faith in these Health Checks now. It seems to just scrape the surface. NewNiceMrMe
But that's my point. A 'bit overweight' is nothing when what you're looking at is a general health MOT. The fact is that, as I understand it, that 10% is actually a reasonably accurate 'guide' and not simply a measure of weight or how much you exercise. They'll have checked your blood pressure too? Being a bit overweight, not doing what you class as 'enough' exercise and not having what you class as an ideal diet doesn't mean you're in danger. In fact I'd say the mere point that you recognise those points would suggest you're probably a lot healthier than many. A health MOT is never going to test things in depth but then again it isn't intended to. They look for tell-tale signs and you don't have any. patently
Put it this way: is a car that has just about passed an MOT in perfect, tip-top condition and incapable of any upgrades or other improvement? No - because an MOT isn't intended to check that, just to see if there is anything that might make the car unsafe to drive.
Scotty
All true enough but since even the basic things like listening to your heart or lungs isn't done then I don't feel this MOT is adequate to then dismiss me for 5 years. I also asked at what point what a prostrate test be included or worthwhile and the nurse said she didn't know. Perhaps that's the thing - it's actually just a nurse doing a lifestyle check, measuring blood pressure, height, weight and waist. I was expecting a bit more. bazza_g
If you want a proper check out, get yourself up to Silverstone to the Porsche Human Performance Centre, they'll sort you out! : http://www.porsche.com/silverstone/en/human-performance-center/hpc-courses/
Waylander
Just to clarify, Gentlemen: if you are asked to prostrate for your prostate examination you are probably in the wrong place and I would not be surprised if it involved a financial exchange....

dazdot
My cholesterol was slightly high, another symptom of hypothyroidism. Hopefully the correct dosage of medicine for me will be found out soon and the cholesterol will lower itself accordingly.
Calm Chris
Drink that yogurt stuff, I went from naughty to good boy in 15 months and ate Full English twice a week with curry, kebab and pizza not restricted. Although I did up my physical side by having sex four time a day rather than just twice a week.
