Waylander
Don't forget the keyboard is a bit different on the US machines, it would drive me nuts personally when I've had to use one before but each to their own. To potentially get something for ~£1k that I would get here for ~£1.6k I could train myself to endure a smaller Enter key. The £ I am sure I will swear about every so often (I think they have @ above the 3 rather than £)
patently
Having the £ sign in the wrong place will just remind you of the £££££££££s you saved, surely?
Mac
My travel buddy is an English GB one, desk 17" unit is US, can't say I notice going between them really. See here for the physical differences, couple of minor keys are different as well. Edited November 13, 2014 by Mac

Parallels and Apple Care casually strewed across the bed Time to go shopping for a sleeve Hold up just one minute Mr W. Are you telling me, the customs guys let you leave the US with a box? Especially a box of unknown origin? Even if sealed! Wow, they really are slacking!
Waylander
No. I am still here and the box will be jettisoned here. not yet decided just how much of the packing to bin though (the foam sides would help) but probably not worth the risk. Andy when I turned it on I had to skip some setup which relied on WiFi being on as it needed to authenticate so I had to skip that step and not sure how to find the complete setup option
Andy_Bangle
Not sure were you are regarding the setup, if you want wifi - go into 'System Preferences' -> 'Network' and you should be able to hook up to the hotel wifi.

Waylander
oh I managed to turn the WiFi on Andy. Just mean that on the initial turn -on when it couldn't connect it said some online setup steps are being omitted and I have no idea what those steps were supposed to be! NNMM should have said earlier and I could have Amazoned it!

NewNiceMrMe
Haha. I think it took me 1-2 months to fully grasp all the elements (that I need) of OSX. The OSX Bible series of books is superb and I don't think I've looked at it for a good few years now. The books help anyone who is going to try going through the Windows to OSX migration process though. There are some things that are very different, such as file management, and take some getting used to.
Waylander
I suspect I will be flummoxed for a while so be prepared. Incidentally I have sealed copies of AppleCare and Parallels 10 as I paid Amazon I didn't have time to return the doubles so told them I would keep them. Anyone interested in purchasing - PM me. If you fine folks aren't interested then I will sling them on the selling forum etc over the weekend
