Totally dire fight and about as much "art" on show as a Tracy Emin exhibition

Smokin Joe & Co will be collectively turning in their graves

However glad Furry won because his antics leading up to the fight were epic

Excellent trash talk from the bottom draw, the Batman & Joker stunt  was genius, add in the super king sized silent night ring and the unsupervised hand wraps, and the champ deserved to lose, ignoring the fact that his right hand seemed to have seized solid in the "Cocked" position all night

The performance of Wlad was appalling.  Probably his worst ever.

That has lead to the good (decent) performance of Fury being massively over-talked in my view.

If there is a rematch (which it now sounds like there may be), I don't expect Klitschko to be as poor again.  I would expect Fury to beat Wilder because even the American's think he's crap.

The return of David Haye is the only thing to be excited about, especially as he's dumped Adam Booth.  He will now be a much more aggressive fighter under the control of Shane McGuigan.  That is bad news for Fury and anyone else.  I fully expect Haye to unify the belts.

I'm sorry, I would love to give a British fighter lots of praise for becoming heavyweight champion of the world - but this is Tyson Fury we're talking about and he's just not a good boxer and got very lucky with the performance of Wladimir.

I am bemused as to why the British press seem to think he gave such a fantastic performance.  His tactics were spot on, but his victory was more down to the performance of Wladimir than himself.

Fury has (apparently) ruled out fighting Haye. Given their recent history I can't say I entirely blame him. I would say maybe he's just scared, but I'm not sure he's aware enough to realise he should be.

See, I read that as nonsense from him.

The whole reason Haye pulled out of the two fights was the shoulder injury that he's been out for 3 years with and getting surgery on.

A fit Haye, and from what I've heard he is looking very sharp indeed, would be a nightmare for Fury.  The problem is that he knows that and now that he's got the titles I don't expect him to back up his words and fight anyone.  He doesn't need to and I wouldn't blame him.  Haye is the last person a new champion like Fury would want to fight.  He's the highest risk of all.

I also wish people would stop mentioning Joshua in the same breath as Haye and Fury.  The lad is far too young and far too inexperienced.  He needs nuturing and I wouldn't want to see him in a world title fight for at least 2-3 more years and 5-6 more fights.  If he gets in too soon, it'll be lights out.

Also, I really don't think we want to see Joshua v Haye, ever.  I have a horrible feeling that a real power puncher, which Haye is despite his size, is going to show that Joshua is not going to be the immovable object some seem to think.  I hope he is, I really do, because he has everything else.  Just don't put him in with someone as fast and big hitting as Haye.

It's all getting the division a bit more exciting though hopefully. +++

Often the least entertaining division imo.

All too often.... big, slow, heavy and boring.

Middle and Welter are littered with talent whereas heavy has been a sleeper of late.

I'd love to see it more exciting, but I can't help but think it'll all be back to normal when the rematch occurs.

I think HW has been dead since Lewis retired, unfortunately.

Haye is a past number who is a blown up cruiserweight who got knocked out by Carl Thompson (Which is never ever mentioned) and couldn't lay a glove on Steelhammer, something which Fury to his credit did manage

AJ is the real deal contender for the heavyweight crown and will unify all the belts at some not to distant a point down the line

So Haye is the first boxer to get caught with a sucker punch in a single fight?  It happens to the best of them - Lennox Lewis included.

He is a legitimate past HW champion.

It has been proven beyond doubt he was injured in the Klitschko fight (he still had a bad night, I'm not doubting that).

He also punches harder than Fury ever will.  Massively so.  You'd have to be living in another universe to not acknowledge he is known for the very heavy hands he has, especially considering his size.

Thompson isn't mentioned for a reason - the best fighters come back.  Haye unified the Cruiserweight division and moved to Heavyweight - a feat only matched by Evander Holyfield.  Yet you're doubting his credentials?

The Cat wore him down and knocked him out there was no sucker punch involved he beat him fair and square, Haye went in there thinking he was going to do what he had done to previous opponents and blast him out of there which he nearly did ,but unfortunately for Haye the Cat is a hard man to beat let alone stop

As for Thompson not being mentioned thats because he was a hard as nails journeyman who none of the well promoted boxers wanted to fight for good reason, thats where you have to admire Eubank for taking him on given the natural weight diffference

As for Haye being a legitimate HW champion take a look at who he has actually beat in his career? A career that spans the worst period of HW boxing "talent" in History the likes of Chisora, Ordinary and Co

As for unifying the belts, again check out who he beat and the comparison with Holyfield opponents, Holyfield would have beaten Haye all day any day at any weight

Haye's injury was a result of bad technique and over reaching when he throws a shot and misses badly which he does quite often, just watch some of his back catalogue, and as a result of that he wont last long on his return unless he is going to change his style completely under Mc Guigan, otherwise that shoulder is going to go again

His return is for the cash to fund his oppulent lifestyle and therefore somewhat amusing that Fury has ruled him out of a pay day given his previous comments about him not giving Fury a pay day

My point is Haye was okay, but he is a past number now, things have moved on with the new generation coming through with AJ & Dillian Whyte who has raw ability and bangs just as hard if not harder than Haye does

Looking forward to the AJ & DW fight this month as it will be a real fireworks job

Okay, we'll drop the Haye discussion then as we're only going to disagree on everything.

Where Joshua and Whyte are concerned, I am worried about all the talk.  Joshua has still only had 14 fights and is yet to be caught flush.  We had an Olympic Gold heavyweight before - his name was Audley. :roflmao:

I don't for one moment expect that to happen with Joshua, but it is still very early days.

As for the fireworks against Whyte, I think it is being massively overhyped.  I expect Joshua to KO him within 3 rounds, maybe even a first round stoppage.

Agreed it will be fairly quick, there again Whyte is not intimidated by AJ and can bang a bit and has an excellent K1 record, so he should be able to take a reasonable shot, there again AJ's shots are pretty lethal by any standard

My 2p.

Whyte is a drug cheating scumbag that should be banned for life ( like all drug takers in sport). I hope AJ embarrasses him and we never hear from him again.

I vented my anger at boxing on sky box office years ago. I knew it would end up here with any half decent boxing match being pay per view and I have no idea how a fight between 2 domestic class fighters can be shown PPV. It irks me that Whyte will earn a vast sum because of this.

AJ will be world class in a couple of years, there's no doubt about that imho.

Haye on the other hand never was and never will be a true world class heavy. No, winning a world title off a 7ft guy that can't box doesn't automatically make you world class.

Fury has done well to get where he has and I'm not going to blame him for a lack of depth in the division. How long he can keep the belts is anyone's guess. I personally think Wilder is pretty poor but would still stand a good chance of taking Fury's prize.

If not Wilder then it will be AJ 18 months down the line. Now that would be PPV material, 2 domestic heavies fighting for the belts.

I was adamant that Haye wouldn't retire after the Klit fight and although I don't like or trust the guy it is a good thing that he is back. Last week the heavyweight division was like watching paint dry. Suddenly a week on it has become a lot more exciting

Totally agree however, unfortunately where any professional sport is concerned drug taking appears to be rife

There are a few other boxers out there who appear to have bulked up way beyond their natural size

Rugby League & Union will be the next scandal

I have said on here previously that I no longer watch any form of Athletics and prefer to watch sports such as the winter olympics where a lot of the diciplines would not benefit from drug enhancement as they are heavily skills orientated

Lets face it when some Jerk from total w4nkers from Chelsea gets booted off I'm a celebrity for testing positive for steroids, you know abuse is pretty much everywhere down the local Gym these days

I dont think he is going to win

Two comments over the past 2r hours:

Before the title showdown he made a series of homophobic comments in an interview with the Mail on Sunday and after being shortlisted for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, he claimed fellow nominee Jess Ennis-Hill “looks quite fit when she’s got a dress on.”

But as he sat ringside for his cousin Hughie’s latest bout on Saturday night, Fury launched a remarkable rant telling TV station, iFL TV, that his critics can “suck my b***s” - and dismissing those who have signed the SPOTY petition as “50,000 w*****s”.

I see Tyson Fury is shortlisted for Sports personality of the year.

When you think about it, he should win that hands down.

Andy Murray.....amazing athlete but oh so boring. Even his voice.

Tyson Fury.....bonkers, but entertaining!

Fury shouldn't even be on the list.  He's a disgrace.  His comments over the last week simply strengthen the view that he is a homphobic, sexist, deranged, self-obsessed, imbecile.

He should be taken off the list of nominees immediately.

Murray might sound boring but he's almost single handedly won this country the World Cup of tennis.

Ennis-Hill won a world title a year after giving birth in her first major comeback tournament.  Lucy Bronze played a huge part in driving England's womens football team to a world cup semi-final.  Mo Farah did the 'triple double', establishing himself as one of the greatest long distance runners of all-time.  Chris Froome won one of the worlds most demanding sporting events for the second time.  Lewis Hamilton won his third world title in incredibly controlled and dominating style (up to the point he won) and got closer to becoming one of the greats of the sport.  Adam Peaty did the double at the world swimming championships and was then part of the world record breaking relay team.  Greg Rutherford completed the European, Olympic and World title haul - holding all of them at the same time.  Kevin Sinfield won the treble with the city that cannot be named rugy league team.

Oh and Matt Whitlock became the first British man to win a gold medal at the world gymnastics championships having already won a silver medal earlier in the tournament.

Then we have Tyson Fury.  A man who fought another man for 36 minutes and won, largely, because the other guy had his worst day in a decade.  He then continued his tirade of abuse against anyone who doesn't agree with his distorted and sick vision of the world.

If he wins, or even gets placed in the top 3, we may as well forget the entire meaning of the word 'sport'.

He's not a personality, he's a mindless bigot.

Incidentally, the gravity of the achievement of the GB Davis Cup team is demonstrated by the fact they're 1/20 on favourites for the Team of the Year title.  That's the worst odds of any team of the year nominee in the history of SPOTY.

Murray was only the third player in history to win all his matches (singles and doubles) in the route to the trophy.

p.s. it is also why he is favourite to win the individual award this year.  Odds as follows....

8/15F - Andy Murray

9/4 - Jessica Ennis-Hill

12/1 - Kevin Sinfield

18/1 - Bigot

25/1 - Lewis Hamilton

66/1 - Chris Froome

100/1 - Mo Farah

250/1 - Greg Rutherford

300/1 - Lizzie Armitstead

300/1 - Adam Peaty

300/1 - Lucy Bronze

300/1 - Matt Whitlock

Personally, I think Ennis-Hill should win.  To do what she did so soon after having her child is quite remarkable.  If either her or Murray get the award though, I think it'll be well deserved.

The thing is, the bloke is one awning short of a caravan holiday and should be offered all the help and sympathy that can be directed his way

He is also from the travelling community and as such he is part of an oppressed minority, and also seems to hold the same views and beliefs as some of the more belligerent Religions out there in regards to a Woman's place and views on Homosexuality

Therefore taking all this into account, as this is a PCBBC contest, he should be a shoe in, lump on!

Froome should be higher on that list!

Just watched the Joshua match against that Scottish lad. Not sure I've ever seen two boxers at different levels of conditioning since Bugner fought Bruno (I think). Not a huge boxing follower as I won't pay for it but I like the cut of Joshua's jib; I hope he makes it far.

One for NNMM;

Eubank Junior V The Irish Geezer...who wins and how?

Gary O'Sullivan.

One defeat in 22 fights, ironically against Billy Joe Saunders - the same as Eubank.

I like O'Sullivan.  He's a proper boxing hard man and he can punch too.

However.....

I don't see Eubank making the same mistakes twice.

Eubank, Unanimous Decision.  (That might surprise some but I think O'Sullivan is too wise and too hard to be KO'd by him).
