In many ways, the whole build up and what has been said reminds me of Hatton v Mayweather.

The closer the fight got, the more I thought Hatton would do it.  I was then convinced he would.  To be fair, he gave a very good performance and the outcome might (note "might") have been different had Joe Cortez not stopped perfectly legimate boxing by him.  He gave FMJ a tough fight when you rewatch it today.

Then I think....oh, he still lost and FMJ did what he did to everyone - outboxed them.

Unfortunately, I think that is what is going to happen with GGG.  He'll do what he does to everyone - KO's them.

The build up is often bigger/better than the fight itself these days. Eddie Hearn really understands that side of things and has improved what his father created. Barry was a master at it and you only have to see what he has done with the Darts, Fish o mania and snooker. 3 pretty boring sports to watch.

Hype = £

I agree with a lot of that,

However couple of things that give me some hope for Kell are that Martin Murray went 11 Rounds, all the best middleweights have dodged fighting GGG, so that begs the question as to what has he actually beat to date?

In regards to the build up being better than the actual fight, then I think this one will be the exception to the rule

Where Pacman v FMJ was concerned, it was always going to be a cr4p fight, pretty much as the majority of FMJ's fights are

All that said cant see GGG losing this and he stops Kell round 10

The weighins we're interesting yesterday. Brook was 0.5lb heavier at the time. I bet GGG starts the fight 7lb heavier.

Most fighters weigh in carb and water depleted to make weight (as we all know) , Brook I would bet came in at his walk around weight. Touching gloves tonight I think GGG is going to look a lot bigger.

Short winded version, Brook hasn't really put on much weight, he just hasn't depleted pre weighin.

I do think it is going to be a lot closer than many expect, but I'm still envisaging a late KO for GGG.  I should add that I won't be at all surprised if Brook is ahead on points when the KO comes.

You got that spot on

Just a shame Brook sustained the injury given how well he was doing to that point

One thing I thought after the fight was how good a fmatch Eubank Junior v GGG would be,

Kell made him look a slugger at times and made him miss consistently,at stages in the fight, as for Bill Jo fight, wouldn't last two rounds

Credit to Brook for having a real go, but the fact GGG broke his eye socket is so telling of the power he was up against.

I am of the view that it would have been a KO to GGG anyway now.  I just think there was too much coming from him for Kell to withstand for 12 rounds, regardless of how well he was doing.  I know GGG has said he didn't feel the power in Brook's punching, but that is usually a tell-tale sign that he did.  Was it likely to be enough to stop him?  Probably not.

Saunders would be taken apart by him, I agree.

If you recall, when this fight was announced, I said that I thought Eubank Jnr was the man to give GGG a problem.  I still think that.  I'm not saying he'd win, but I do think he would hit back with serious power that would stop the onsalughts being never ending.

Finally, I have to give GGG credit.  He is a formidable boxer and was coming at Brook like a steam train.  Time and time again, he just keeps attacking.

That particular injury has more to do with the angle of the punch rather than the power

GGG throws an excellent semi left hook around the back of the guard and if he connects it is usually in the temple region, where the eye socket is as it's weakest

I agree GGG was probably the winner, regardless of the injurty, but it ended prematurely a fight that was turning into a classic dust up, between two true warriors of the ring

Current state of boxing match ups;

AJ v ??.sorry but I cant even recall the next Horizontals name?

Shelling out hard earned for PPV on this one, good luck with promoting that proposition

Talk of FMJ v Pacman rematch

Really? Sounds like a shoe in cure for life long insomnia

Did Ward really win that fight against Kovalev?

Definite draw for me as you could have called it either way

Never thought I would say this, but Groves has impressed last couple of fights and good to watch

The PPV farce is comical. I said a few years back if punters keep throwing their money at it we will be where we are now.

'Want to watch AJ? Give us another £20 on top of your sky sports subscription and you can.

What's that? Who's he fighting? That doesn't matter, give us ya money'

I'm non plused about FMJ and Manni. It would be a sh1t fight but a good money spinner for all involved.

I hate Ward with a passion but fair play he does what he has to do each fight. I thought he nicked it and on home turf with 3 American judges it was never in doubt.

Rematch? No chance Ward is agreeing that.

6 months ago I was really excited about boxing again. Now it's gone a little flat again for me as if the money men teased us with a few decent bouts to get us interested before going back to cashing in again.

Tricky.  I think I'd have to go with Brook in his almost suicidal attempt at GGG.  It had the outcome we predicted but his effort was commendable and it made for a good, if brief, fight.

PPV is subjective because if you're an addict, you pay it.  I agree completely with Billy about the madness of it, but I'm not going to miss a major fight because of having to shell out a few quid.  However, I think it has forced many fight fans to reassess what they call a 'major fight'.

I wouldn't pay it for a second FMJ v MP fight because it'd be hopeless.  We know what the outcome would be and nor would it be interesting in getting to it.

I think the Ward win should have been a draw.  I really do.  I agree he won't take a rematch though.  Not a chance.  Why would he when he's clearly not too fussed about leaving a legacy.  I've always rated the guy as a boxer but I can't say I find him that endearing.

AJ's next fight is what it is.  I'm afraid to say that the only person to blame for what we now have to face for 6-12 months in his division is Fury.  He has royally *****ed it up and now all the silly games have to start again.  Incidentally, we'll never see him in a ring again and I think that's good for boxing.  He's done.

AJ will win.  Klitschko will say he'll fight him.  Haye will then get in the way when Hearn realises that Klitschko is going to mess them about for ages.  That will leave the door open and Hearn won't be able to resist the megabucks from a Joshua v Haye fight.

That leads to Haye pounding Joshua and the division is thrown back into turmoil.

Klitschko will immediately want to fight him.

Haye will agree and KO him (I honestly don't think he'll make the same mistakes now that Booth isn't in his corner).

Haye will then retire.

The problem is he'll have finished Joshua in doing so.

If there is one thing, just one tiny thing, I want to see in the next 1-2 years it is this - Hearn must NOT let Joshua in a ring with Haye.  Joshua could reign in this division for a long, long time, but Haye is exactly the type of opponent he needs to avoid until he realises he doesn't need to get drawn in by super-fast and super-hard punchers.  Right now, I think AJ reacts too easily and gets into brawls a bit too soon.

To date, he's been doing that occasionally with guys who can't hurt him.  Haye will.  For all his critics, nobody can deny his sheer punching power and speed.

Give him 2 years, 3-4 fights, and he won't.  I like Haye and always have done, but I don't want to see him destroy Joshua.  I'd rather he got a belt elsewhere and then faced Joshua much later or retired beforehand.

Pathetic is the phrase that springs to mind.

I often try telling people (parents) that boxing is not fighting, it's an incredibly skilled and difficult sport, that will teach there kids self discipline and respect for themselves and others.

Then they see this kind of thing....and send their kids off to play rugby instead.

And I can't blame them.

Respectful fighters don't sell PPV and unfortunately money is more important than good fights.

It took Brook ages to get a fight on Box Office and that's because he just can't sell it. He's no shrinking violet but he is nowhere near Fury, Mayweather, Haye, Groves et el.

It could be argued that Mayweather's fights are boring due to his skill and dominance. His mouth sells the fight and he cashes the cheques.

Unfortunately there is no going back now. Match fees have been set in past fights and now everyone expects a slice.

2 mediocre British boxers fighting will feel they warrent PPV.

PPV would have its place, obviously for the world class bouts but not the shame it is today.

That is very harsh on an undisputed and unified belts world champion at Cruiserweight and world champion at heavyweight!

It is, however, far too complimentary to Tony Bellew!
