NewNiceMrMe
My 6 has arrived today, my word it's thin, wonder if it'll bend? Mine is now safely tucked away in a Piel Frama case. The phone isn't just thin, it is very, very slippy. Hence I ordered a case immediately and it has survived until its arrival yesterday. Tipex
Ordered a case in advance so I could pop it straight in, haven't actually taken the plastic off yet as I need to pop in to town and get a new sim card, but I can't say it felt especially slippery, maybe the difference in colours makes silver more slippery? Or more likely, it's because it still has the plastic on it!
NewNiceMrMe
I don't think it'll just be the silver case but I could be wrong. The leather of the case just makes it more 'grippy' and of course it feels and smells lovely too.
Arch
So you like things that smell of leather, that you can have s firm grip on....?
Tipex
Well I've had it a few days now, can't say I find it slippy, maybe it's all that hand sanitiser drying out your skin? I've got it in a case because I reckon it'll pretty easy to damage in the event I drop it! Otherwise, what can I say? it's an iPhone that works just like my 4s did when I first got it, only a bit bigger and thinner, give it a couple of years and I'll be cursing it due to Apple and built in obsolescence, can't say I'm overwhelmed by it, it's just an iPhone. Maybe I'm starting to get bored of IOS, I don't know, might have a proper look at the competition next time, Apple need to do something 'wow' to hold my interest in the future I think.
Mac
We've had LOADS of them dropped and damaged. Must be because of how un-slippy they are. Handing out the leather cases for them now.
Arch
Thats just where i ended up. I just got a bit bored. The biggest sticking point to stay with ios was app investment but when i looked into it, most of what i really used was either free or cheap enough to replace. I know for some, the fact that the transition to a new iphone is mostly seamless is a big part of the appeal but its what turned me off after 4 generations. Id get it out, do the setup and restore and then think, oh, its exactly the same as the one i was using ten minutes ago, just a bit thinner and a bit quicker. At least if i go back to an iPhone, it'll be different enough to make it interesting again. Perhaps thats the answer, buy Apple, then Android or Windows, go back to Apple, then Android again!
Mac
I think they've produced a master-stroke with the handoff stuff - it's brilliant. Being able to switch in the same app across my devices has proven utterly awesome. Join up the ecosystem, it becomes more than the parts.

Handing out the leather cases for them now. What can I say, I obviously have sticky hands or something, it is very smooth, so I can imagine if you've just washed and dried your hands or something it might be slippy, but I can't honestly say I've though 'blimey that's slippery' maybe once I've dropped it I might change my mind!Handoff isn't something I can ever see myself using to be honest, But then I'm not that sort of user, there are some very clever touches, and it's an incredibly powerful device if you take the time to learn how to use it properly, so much more than any Android device when you look through the accessibility options etc. I used it on the 4s, so it's not a 6 specific thing, but I love 'Hey Siri' it's awesome, I don't have to touch the phone at all, I just lay in bed and ask it what time it is, obviously it's far more powerful than that, but that's one way I use it, it must be a hugely powerful tool for people with disabilities of many kinds. Mac
I suspect it's a combination of the size, thickness, rounded corners, and smooth back.
shao_khan
Well I've been playing with a 6 and I'll not be upgrading, it's too large for the way I use a phone, and my similar size Nokia did my head in with ultra slippery texture. I can't fault it as a device, but it's just too large to work for me on a daily basis. Mr Nices old 5 though works a treat (y)

Tipex
I'm not finding the size an issue personally, but then I do have quite large hands! If you can't reach the top of the screen when using it one handed, double tap (just tap, don't actually press) the home button, and hey presto, the screen slides down. Btw, I edited my previous post and added a lot more content to it incase anyone is interested. Edited October 16, 2014 by Tipex

I ended up answering a call on my iPad the other day as I couldn't find my phone when it was ringing. However I do think they could do something to evolve the iOS more with the feel of it and the features. Personally I'd like a configurable home screen of widgets not the long scrolling list we have ended up with but its a step in the right direction and a long time coming. garcon magnifique
Right. The old iPhone 4 is starting to show its age and the charging cable is liable to electrocute me any time soon. So man logic dictates it's time to upgrade to an iPhone 6. Just spent longer than is probably healthy trying to work out the various plan options online. The best balance of cost and convenience appears to be to upgrade my Vodafone plan at Carphone Warehouse, who will also give me something for the old phone. Am I missing anything? And most importantly ... silver/white or grey/black?!
NewNiceMrMe
Silver is very cool but the colour is probably irrelevant as you're almost certain to cover it up in a case....
garcon magnifique
True - so I guess the main choice is black or white front...
Mac
I ended up with the Gold - which is irritating. My fault for choosing the 6+ to start with, not liking it, and then going back for the 6. There were only Gold left! On the other hand Chris is right, the first thing you'll do is put a case on it. NewNiceMrMe
I bought a gold one for our youngest for her birthday (I think they look rather good in gold too, I was surprised). I was told by the blue T-shirt at Apple in the Metro Centre that they're the most in demand. I also got to see a black fronted one for the first time, and I much prefer the white front. One reason and one reason alone - the black front marks more. You could see finger prints that didn't show on the white fronted models. garcon magnifique
Good point with the finger marks. Any thoughts on Carphone Warehouse? Must admit I've been quite impressed with them when I've been in recently, and at least in theory it means I can get everything sorted in one go.
