Mac
It'd work out far cheaper to buy it unlocked network free and then get a SIM only deal. Hell, get a 0% card and bang it on that, it'd still be cheaper than a tiered 2 year contract.

I got £120 for my 5 with a screen that was smashed to pieces. More cost upfront but play the long game.
garcon magnifique
To be honest this is what I'd been thinking, but the figures don't seem that different, especially on Vodafone SIM only deals... Also been trying to work out data usage. If I'm not a heavy media downloader, so my data use is general social media, downloading emails and the like. Am I going to use less than 1Gb a month without worrying about using Wi-Fi where/whenever I can? Booster
Yes. I use emails and check TSN, news, shares all day long and don't use a gig. 5 is a better size than the 6 but the 6 is quick.
Paul
New 5S today for me under Apple warranty, so that will last me out till contract renewal in 12 months time.
Booster
Why is my phone signing me out of TSN all the time? Iphone 5 required sign in after turning it off and back on. New phone is a restore of the previous. I leave TSN open as a safari page and if I leave it for a while and then look at another page it will have signed me out. Anyone know if this a setting? cruiser647
We've had LOADS of them dropped and damaged. Must be because of how un-slippy they are. Handing out the leather cases for them now. It's because they are company owned. People are more careful with their own goods and hard earned.... We are always getting i-devices back broken or spoilt in some other ingenius way. Some people are on their 4th i-device. Pisses me off something chronic. However, we are now giving out proper cover cases and not just solid jackets.

No, we had a vote and spoke to Apple, asked them to make it as hard as possible for you to come here. NewNiceMrMe
There may be some irony in that. There seems little doubt they will enter the TV market soon.
Tipex
Lol, Apple get mocked for being beaten to the market by the Galaxy Note etc, then mocked again when they do bring something the same size?? Where were these spoof ads when the Note was released? Edited October 28, 2014 by Tipex
NewNiceMrMe
It reminds me of around 4 years ago when the iPad launched. On this very forum it was slaughtered by some people and we were being told of how HP and others would bring 'real' products to market within the year and the iPad would be shown to be vastly inferior and die a death. Hmm.

garcon magnifique
I don't remember anybody predicting HP would do anything other than come to the market late with something that was sh!t. As it turned out, HP produced a slate that was a reasonable competitor to other cheap end tablets if you wiped WebOS and installed Android. Realistically there was and is only one competitor to the iPad, in terms of price point, capability and market segment, and that's the Surface. The Surface? Really? I'm not sure what the sales figures are for it, or how they compare, but if that's true I'd be very surprised. I'd have thought that Android tablets out sell all others personally, given how many variations there are from the cheapest of the cheap, to ones that easily match an iPad in terms of build quality and usefulness? Surely the iPad is second to Android in pure number of units sold?
Waylander
I suspect he means in terms of hardware and build quality. The SP3 is a stunning piece of kit I would love to own but its very pricey for a tablet

I'd just be surprised to learn it sold anything like as well as an iPad, let alone Android devices. Edited October 29, 2014 by Tipex

They had a great product in the iPaq, little handheld smart device (without the phone). If they could have pushed that a lot better with sales and marketing, they could have had a product leader. BUT, as with many big corporates with fingers in many pies, they took their eye off the ball and allowed Apple in.
