Andrew re the Windows booting up.

I swapped out my hdd on the pc for an ssd.

I used to switch on, go to something and then come back.

It is now very fast - maybe wrth a £70 upgrade?

Might have a think about that although the Air was going to be an Xmas present and we could then get involved in the FaceTime thing when I'm away.

Oh, and the other problem with the SSD is trying to build the machine again. I cannot find any trace of recovery disks or OEM software to rebuild on a new disk. She bought the machine well before we met and I've been surprised at how quickly a £300 machine has died on its arse.

I was about to say, you have a crap accountant.

I buy what I need and then ring my accountant and tell him to deal with it.  That's what I pay him for.

If I just needed a book-keeper, I'd get a book-keeper.

In my world an accountant is there to deal with problems I give him.  80% of the time he'll be able to.  20% of the time he'll ring me up and say he can't do it.  I can handle that, but even if he says no it just means I have to find a different way of describing the problem to him. :roflmao:

Hmmm, interesting. We are talking about a rental flat here so a t/o of no more than £10k p.a. However, we have another place which is under the wife's name which has a slightly bigger t/o.

Soooo, even talking those figures you reckon hardware to keep accounts and records is fair game? Plus the Office 365 licence sub too of course for spreadsheets and letter writing to the other company directors (for my place).

I also use him for the company which owns the freehold in my rental place so he has three separate account dealings with us as a family.

I have a very simple rule - I run the business, my accountant doesn't.  I apply the same to my personal financial affairs.

Some decisions I make will have a tax implication my accountant will have to deal with.  I rarely ask him first.  If I do, past dealings have taught me I'm letting someone else run my business when I'll be the one who has to sign the final accounts off.

Use Macrium reflect to image it and load that image although a new install would add to the awesomeness

Absolutely - this was the tacit understanding - you need to have a good enough story to justify item

As above. I was challenged by my accountant about something being paid the same despite a year on year decrease of private income; I responded to justify it; they shrugged, said fair enough and put it through.

You need a computer to keep accounts and records up to date; it needs to be stable and robust so you need to spend a little more to ensure this...etc

I will when it arrives.

I've ordered it via my business account with them but told them I didn't want it delivering when I'm not in the office (and that means not until next week now unfortunately).

Otherwise, I risk it being handled by the most stupid receptionist in the world and being 'advised' she gave it to them man with the white van who said it was his and promptly sold it at his local car boot sale.  Or similar.
