Rachel
Anyone done a Dangerous Dan and upgraded already? I notice there are new (not mavericks compatible) versions of iMovie, iPhoto, Keynote, Numbers and Pages also now ready to consume all your data capped bandwidth (for me that is 4x Mavericks machines in the queue to upgrade - eventually). All I did today was the security update, as only just having upgraded to iTunes 11.4, I'm not in a rush to update to iTunes 12.0.
Andy_Bangle
Likewise, I only did the sec updates despite App Store trying to tempt me otherwise all morning
Biscuits
Will do one machine and see how it goes before doing the others. Our software guys have had the Beta for sometime and say it's "okay".... so I'm weary !

CarMad
Been running it for yonks - been stable as anything for the last 2/3 dev previews. This it had a few early glitches but it seems to be very stable in the latest releases. Jump in the water is warm!

NewNiceMrMe
Oooo. Jazzy iOS style icons. Took about 40 minutes to complete on my Macbook. It looks very 'clean'. Not sure I like the mono icons in the top system bar. No coloured Dropbox icon etc. All the new icons are rather intertesting. The iOS style system font is very nice indeed. Ultra clean and clear. Mac
It's an interesting one - back when I first installed it I thought it was a bit 'meh'. But then the Handoff started working, and then I noticed I was getting 12 hours plus on my 13" Travel Buddy, and then noticed lots of other little things. Now, going back to Mavericks on my 17" workhorse feels clunky! I think they've done a lot with the user interface, but it's hard without sitting down side by side to qualify exactly what those differences are if that makes sense. Desktop calling I use all the time. It's brilliant. My USB headset is always about anyway as I use it for Lync & Skype - being able to answer my mobile on the same platform...it's just one of those things that brings tech together. Not critical of course, but just that bit easier to use. Spotlight was a bit meh to start with too - in the middle of the screen, and loud. But it's changed the way I work again - the scope and nature of its searches are way better than previous, but you have to slightly modify your search behaviour. I like it, it's a great upgrade. Perhaps not spectacularly different but the changes they've made really work for me.
NewNiceMrMe
Handsoff isn't working for me. Spotlight in the centre of the screen is crap. Far too instrusive. It would seem you can't move it too? The ability to re-order results is very handy, but why on earth make it so damned instrusive visually? Mac
If you'd have asked me within a week or so of install I would have agreed - not so much now, I think it's ace.
Scotty
Do I work with an odd bunch or are there other people struggling to pronounce Yosemite? I've been there so it's not me but I'm heard people say Yose-mite, Yosem-ite etc

CarMad
I use Alfred, still spotlight occasionally but there are some features with Alfred I use all the time. Even if its just to make a quick calculation its great not having to load a separate program to do it.

Rachel
Given I only updated to Mavericks when the AppStore d/l version was 10.9.4, I think I'll be a laggard... Still haven't upgraded the iPad Mini to 8.0.x yet either (7.x.y is fine for me atm - and my download cap got hammered this month) edit: for those of you who have multiple machines to update/upgrade, this might be a huge help... http://arstechnica.com/apple/2014/10/how-to-make-your-own-bootable-os-x-10-10-yosemite-usb-install-drive/ Edited October 18, 2014 by Rachel

Andrew
Right, I'll show my ignorance. What is spotlight?
NewNiceMrMe
Cmd-Space = Spotlight = Search of a very cool nature (searches docs, emails, the web, apps, etc and very fast too). It also does cool things such as calculations, enyclopedia entries (for example, if you type "London" it'll automatically bring up entries on London and such-like).
