CarMad
The what?? It allows you to input into the watch screen with presure and not just touch and the watch can also reply and give feedback via feel with vibration from the watch. You could if you wanted send your beating heartbeat to a friend if with the same watch if you wanted to as it can monitor your heartbeat with the sensors on the back of the watch. patently
the watch can also reply and give feedback via feel with vibration from the watch. The watch goes on your wrist, right?

Riz
quality responses here folks.... I was really looking forward to the watch but I am now off the idea.... my Seiko Kinetic is still doing a fantastic job of telling the time so I am just waiting to see how good the watch is and what the future holds for it. drpellypo
Had to go to the Apple Store today to get an iPad. Needless to say I came out having pre-ordered an Apple watch. Oops.
drpellypo
By the way, the watch is incredible. The feel, the look, the way it works, all of these things are miles ahead of anything on the market right now. Miles. It's absolutely worth the price tag because it's just so much better in the flesh than the cheaper competition. The alert system is unlike anything I've ever experienced before. I have custom vibrate on my iPhone and a message alert is one really quick burst. The watch is similar but it's almost like feeling your heart beat. Hard to properly describe but it's nothing like your watch vibrating on your wrist. It's almost like a really gentle pressure being applied. Really really awesome bit of kit. Chick
I'll upload a few pics when on the laptop, but it's a pretty cool clever bit of shinyness (is that a real word?! Apologies patently ). I'll be wearing it as my daily so will report back ..
Cuprabob
Happen to pop into an Apple Store yesterday, so had a play with the iWatch and I now understand the reason for the hype.
CarMad
I was out in Manchester yesterday and tried a few on. Not sure it does it for me, it seems quite bulky and some of the straps didn't feel as premium as my other watches some how. I've decided to give it a miss, I can see why the tech is good and I can see the attraction having had a good go of the in store demo bust I'm not sold yet. drpellypo
I'm guessing you've got quite small watches at present? I have an AP Royal Oak and the Apple watch felt positively small in its biggest size in comparison!

CarMad
I'm guessing you've got quite small watches at present? I have an AP Royal Oak and the Apple watch felt positively small in its biggest size in comparison! No I wouldn't say so no. TAGs, Hamilton a range of watches really. I was quite disappointed with the metal bracelet if just didn't feel special to me. The watch is chrome polished (I wanted the sapphire glass) I'd like to have seen a polished strap to go with it. I can see them having a watch only option next time so that people can swap the bracelets over if they keep a similar look to the watch. I can certainly see the appeal to having information projected from your phone onto your wrist for convenience and more and it really did work very well. I just wasn't wowed unfortunately, I was hoping I would be and I would have placed an order for it there and then. I just wasn't.
Tipex
Popped in to the Apple Store in Brighton as I was passing just to have a nosey. I always knew it wasn't something I was interested in owning, and that hasn't changed, but it's a nice thing, typical Apple build quality, i.e. very good, just like my iPhone 6 and all those before it. However, I have to agree about the straps and bracelets, they all either looked or felt very cheap, the sales/advisory chimp was trying to steer me to the Milanese loop for some reason, but that is almost certainly for the ladies. I think when some third party straps or bracelets come on the market their will be some much nicer ones on offer. Overall though, the two major (and they are very major) things that would stop me buying one are the battery life, and the fact it isn't water resistant. Personally I'd rather have a black and white E-ink style display, and a battery life measured in weeks, rather than a colour display that won't (with any meaningful use) last even a full working day according to sales/advisory chimp. Scotty
the fact it isn't water resistant. CNET had a video of a guy in the shower showing it was water resistant earlier today. I've no idea if it's meant to be or not/
CarMad
Its water resistant, but not water proof. You could get it splashed and possibly shower with it, but not go for a swim.
Tipex
Yeah the *whatever Apple call the people who work in their shops* guy said you definitely can't go swimming with it, and he wouldn't recommend wearing it in the shower either. Personally I think Apple are missing a trick, fitness apps etc are huge, a swimming app would be very well received, but then I guess that's the Apple way, hold back something for the 3rd/4th gen version so people are virtually begging for it when it finally arrives. drpellypo
It is totally waterproof. It's been submerged in water 1.5m deep for 5 minutes after being used in shower, swam with, and dipped in hot water. Speculation is that the laws governing waterproof claims were a pain, so Apple decided to say it was simply splash proof.

garcon magnifique
Or maybe Apple don't fancy replacing 'waterproof' watches when they turn out not to be.
drpellypo
Yeah that's a valid point, too. I'm not going to worry about getting mine wet day to day though. Never wear a watch when swimming, waterproof or not, anyway. I'm too busy swimming.
