Apple Watch launch

Even proper waterproof/diving watchmakers tend to advise not to wear it in the shower due to the chemicals in shower gel and shampoo.

I'd only take a watch under water that was designed to unless it was cheap and replaceable.

It's reassuring to know that mine will still be working fine at 500m ... attached to my cold, lifeless body. :P

I'm mostly made of water anyway, so I'm fairly sure I'm neither water proof, nor resistant?

I wouldn't be brave enough to wear one swimming, which is a shame as some of the swim focused watches are really good, and I'm pretty sure the Apple Watch with a swimming app would be even better, and more convenient to use as well.

The watch is IPX7, which should be fine underwater (less than 1m) for 30mins after that you are on your own. So yes for marginal usage you should be fine.

Fancy going to Center Parcs swimming for a few hours and go down the rapids then you might not find it so good after all.

I want something that I can do that with, go for a swim for an hour and not thing I hope its still ok I want somewhat that is good at 200meters. Admittedly that isn't what everyone wants, but if V2 has that and there is a swimming mode, then I might just treat myself.

I would not try swimming with anything rated IPx7 - that refers to static immersion, it's not designed to handle the force of driving your arm through the water swimming with it on your wrist. Any water damage and I'm sure you'll get the big "F you" from Apple!

Spare a thought for some of us Garcon. While you are lapping up the sun's weak rays at 500m down, enjoying the warming waters, I'm further down at 1,220m where some tit has decided my watch will go, so I've gone to see if they are right.

Mind you, it is paradise here compared to where I think Rachel might be!

Quite, I used to bash the crap out of the Oakley watches I used to wear, even put them through the dishwasher to clean them :o they stood up to the abuse unbelievably. My Omega I currently wear as a daily I wouldn't dream of doing that too, but it has picked up the odd scratch which winds me up.  In fact I'm looking at picking up one of these as a replacement daily, http://www.gizmag.com/vixtorinox-inox-rugged-watch-baselworld/31416/ simply so that I don't have to be remotely careful with it.

Ultimate proof it's a middle class accessory ;)

Middle class?

I'd say working classes too - because as far as I'm concerned tattoos are distinctly the haven of the chav and underclasses.

I'm sure that is now going to kick up a shitstorm.
