Just been having a look at the new GT on the alfa website. Hav to say I'm very impressed!

The collection of reviews that theyhave on there are also very complimentary (as you would expect - on their own site)

I have been waiting for the A4 coupe but it won't be out this year. Think I might test drive the GT .

Anyone got any more pics of it?

The things that bother me about it are:

1. Depreciation. Alfas are not good at holding their value.

2. Build quality.

Other than that the car looks great and has had good reviews. I'd want the 3.2 jobbie and there has been a fair bit of criticism of the amount of power going through the front wheels in the 147. I think having Quattro and then going to a front wheel drive car with IRO 250 bhp might be a bit of a shock when pulling away.

Really into these now and want one but do not know any Alfa owners at all! Anyone on here got one of these or know anyone who has?

See a few 2nd hand ones now, with prices ranging from 21-25k for a 2nd hand 3,2 V6 wonder if there was any duff models I should be aware of?

Don't worry about it, Alfa's are not that bad now. It's the dealers that tend to let the side down. But Kalbfell is sorting this out for the Brera and 159 as they are seen as the start of the new beginning.

A second hand 3.2 V6 is the best buy, by far.

ChadW, as a GT owner I can definitely recommend it. Mine's the JTD (don't look at me in that tone of voice!!) and it's a July 2004 car. I've done a Glass guide valuation this week and was quite happy to see that the depreciation is no worse than any of the usual alternatives.

The only thing on it that's ever broken were the reverse lights and parking sensors. Both failures were symptons of a single fault....a loose wire. The dealership (not the one I bought the car from either) fixed it no probs in one visit (as they should).

It's got a couple of squeaks and rattles which I hope to have silenced at the next service, but then again we've got a 2001 Toyota Celica in the family and that squeaks and rattles too. A firend of ours just got a new 5-sereis and that squeaks and rattles too, so I can hardly say the GT's any worse than anything else out there.

It also looks fecking fabulous when clean and shiny.

Here are some photos of mine:

Buy one, you know it makes sense.

I'd be tempted to hold fire and look at the Brera instead. As I understand it (mainly from the Brera article in this month's EVO, so those in the know feel free to clarify 169144-ok.gif ), the GT is based on the 156 floorpan and will be continued "for the time being", whereas the Brera is on a shortened 159 floorpan and is definitely a part of Alfa's future.

One thing is it depends whether you need proper rear seats - the Brera looks pretty damn small in the back!

P.S. The Brera V6 is 4wd. ECLIPSe.gif

P.P.S. DavidC, that's one gorgeous looking car! 169144-ok.gif
