cabby
. . . for a simple person . I need to build a simple one page site for wifeys business - basic contact details are all that are really needed. Any tools/sites I should look at? Also, are there any basic SEO things I should? Don't expect the site to be a major generator of new business but helping to link to a few key phrases would be good.
patently
Haven't tried it, but the "Answer Me This" podcast is sponsored by squarespace.com who claim to offer all that. Apparently the code "Answer" will get you freebies.
Mook
Loads of the domain registration and hosting companies like 1and1, 123-Reg.co.uk and GoDaddy offer these kind of tools, and they're normally free if you buy hosting etc off them. NewNiceMrMe
If you're going to do anything like that, do Squarespace.com as suggest by Patently. Don't buy a domain off GoDaddy - their terms for getting it off them if you ever want to are akin to legal impossibility. The rest of the 'all in one' starter site offerings are absolutely crap and look about as amateur as you could ever imagine. shao_khan
I did my own. Used Wordpress with a free theme I liked, purchased the domain through bluehost because they were quite cheap for a couple of year deal. Took me a couple hours and I had the site up. Good shout - I should have said Wordpress is an excellent tool and the mass of dirt cheap templates for it makes it a superb choice.
