drpellypo
Came out of work last night. No response on central locking keyfob. No worries, I thought, must be battery, so tried key. Key wouldn't even get half way into lock. Two hours later, lots of WD40 in the lock mechanism - no further forward. Had to smash rear window and climb in. I'm assuming it's the convenience module that's packed up? If I change this, will the key need to be reprogrammed? I can't do that because can't lock or unlock door with key! Is this a common problem with lock that can be fixed? Looking for easiest solution to be honest as I'm off to Spain for 2 weeks next week!
drpellypo
Armed with a big screwdriver and a hammer i fixed the lock. I don't know what was stopping the key but about 50 smacks with the hammer on the end of a screwdriver got rid of it and the lock is working now. Woo! Just need to change the rear glass now :/ Although only £20 off ebay.
E-bmw
If gentle persuasion fails I normally find brute force works too. Edited March 18, 2015 by E-bmw
patently
It's amazing how many problems can be solved by fetching a bigger hammer
garcon magnifique
Are you sure you haven't stolen someone else's car?
drpellypo
I must admit I did really really want someone to approach me when I was hammering a screwdriver in the lock, but nobody was bothered!
