Mac
...What about if the DD is cancelled? That's legitimate isn't it?
NewNiceMrMe
Sky don't report account conduct to the agencies but a bounced DD will count against you! They had 2 bounced DD's. Are you saying that would count against them on their credit report? Maybe not the best idea in that case, but they certainly wrote the £164 off! NewNiceMrMe
But....if you cancelled the DD..... I won't do it, but I am seriously surprised at how easy they'd give it up. Maybe they have a limit they'll go to, but ultimately they've got away with 2 months free subscription and they ended up dropping the monthly rate by £4 too! Booster
If you cancel it then no issues as long as it isn't a firm that sends data to the agencies then there will be no problem. Bouncing a DD to anyone leaves a mark with your bank that gets passed on. We even get account turnover information now. Didn't have that till recently. M8CKN
I rung sky today and said "as I subscribe to every one of your f'ing services and my HD box seems to be failing, can you do me a better price on your 2TB box than the £149 price on the website?". The reply...sorry sir, that's our mistake, your best price is £249!!" Just had a few back and forth emails with Sky customer services...a 2tb is on its way to me for £49

M8CKN
Had the confirmation email...cost of installation £0, cost of box £0!! Definitely worth the emails
shao_khan
I might try this, I have the smallest package you can have now, which I am about to cancel, but maybe I should see what they will give me. I don't understand this £100+ on TV The kids only get 5hours per week max screen time (inc weekends) so I cant justify the cost, but if it were better for nothing, I might be able to suffer that. Riz
I have just signed up to Sky+ HD (no cable or Infinity). The standard broadband speed will be less than 1.5mbps so ruled out on-demand services like Netflix / Virgin Media / BT Vision etc Ended up going with the Sky Family Bundle, Sky Movies, HD + 3D, Broadband and Telephone for £51.35per month / 12 months contract. Also got £125 Bill Credit which effectively brings monthly payments down to £41.18pm. Don't think its too bad but I didn't have much choice due to the poor Telephone/ASDL exchange Will try for a better deal when the 12 months are up
NewNiceMrMe
A few people I know have started opting for Now TV. I will admit I had never heard of it until recently, but it lets you watch on a weekly or 24 hour basis. For example, if you wanted to watch Sky Sports on a Sunday for the football, you pay £6.99 or something like that. If you pay £9.99 (or whatever it is, but it is around that), you get access for a week. I can actually see the sense in that, especially when I think of all the channels we pay for but never bloody watch! Daz
Yeah I use that through my Apple TV to watch bits and pieces, like certain F1 races which aren't live on BBC
