bells0
I'm a Lumia 930 user too [after calling time on years of iphones, the 64 gig 6 was past my budget!]. Can't fault it, and now that MS have recently made it so much easier for DEVS to port Android and IOS apps, i think the lack of apps will soon shrink. Hoping they release a new flagship for the release of Windows 10. Otherwise i'll be keeping my 8 month old 930 for some time longer. MS are releasing Cortana for IOS/Android, not sure if that is a good or bad move for the future of Windows Mobile?
Soulboy
Had the Galaxy S6 Edge a few days now. Good phone, but the Edge offers little over the standard S6 in real life. Looks cool, but not much else.

MS are releasing Cortana for IOS/Android, not sure if that is a good or bad move for the future of Windows Mobile? The 64gb iPhone 6 is my main phone and I use it constantly. I agree with you on pricing but you do get incredible residual values on them when selling on. The Lumia 930 is a very, very good phone and if I have both phones with me and want to take the best photograph possible, it's a no-brainer to use the Lumia. The camera on it decimates the quality of the iPhone. I would like to get more information on a screen though and be able to adjust font sizes. You don't get anything like the amount of data on a single screen as you do on the iPhone and that irritates me from time to time. I'd also like to be able to change from a black background to a white background for email (if anyone knows how to do that, please tell me!). You can now get a Lumia 930 on Virgin mobile for £13 pcm. That is fantastic value for what you get in terms of hardware. I now bracket phones quite simply. If you want the very best, in my opinion the iPhone 6 is worth the premium. If you're anything less than a heavy use of Apps and mobile phones in general, the Lumia 930 would be my choice in the 'best phone for little money' stakes. What it offers for the price you pay is unbeatable. p.s. I should add that I've nothing whatsoever against Samsung phones and the S6 (I've now tried two for a short period of time) is a very nice phone indeed. I still don't think it is on the level of the iPhone though, in fact I think it is quite a way behind and I'd prefer a Lumia 930 as my daily phone if I had to get rid of the iPhone. I agree with Soulboy on the Edge. I can't quite see why anyone would choose one, in fact I find it quite a bizarre creation. E-bmw
Text size is in "ease of access" in settings on the 925, so I would assume the same. Background dark/light is in "start + theme" in settings", I assume this works for all apps & email alike (I use webmail, so not sure) Edited June 7, 2015 by E-bmw

They are - they are releasing the 940 I still have my 920; all Windows phones (well defo the 900 series) get upgraded to WIn10 anyway so may as well tread water to see what the 940 offers and for it to drop in price a little

I don't want to spend a lot per month nor 'pay' for the phone with an upfront payment. Those days are over for me. Oh well, will just have to see what the pricing is. Daughter no2 has gone back to Android with a Samsung Core Prime thingy. I had a play and I don't like Android. I prefer order without having to think about it. Which I feel the Win mobile OS menu gives.

Shall wait a month or 2 after release as prices seem to drop quite quickly on MS phone.
Waylander
I missed a trick. My renewal was Feb and I should have switched to a sim only for 12 months as I think 940 is out Sept. Even getting my wife the s6 edge in the interim means I have wasted 6 months of overpaying at least
cruiser647
Got myself a Lumia 830. Quite a bit bigger than the 820. Thinner and lighter too. Need to buy a case! I did not need to up my tariff, so went for the 830. Faster, better camera, more memory. It'll do me for 2 yrs! The camera bit is probably the most important bit for me. NewNiceMrMe
I don't know what the camera on the 830 is like but the 930 is superb. I have one nagging issue with it - the slight processing delay. The iPhone is instant, the Lumia 930 isn't. I also can't quite figure out the easy way of seeing all the shots I've taken without going into the camera? It has deterred me from using the camera. Waylander
Make a shortcut tile to your camera role. And also having taken a pic in the corner you will see a coloured circle which is your last pic and clicking that takes you to camera role. There are lots of camera "lenses" some of which are much faster than the default Ms one
cruiser647
Not sure what you mean by going into the camera, as you should have a 'photos' icon on the main screen or in the menu screen to the right of it.

Torino101
This is obviously a story of each to their own. I've owned both high end android and Apple products along with having to deal with a few "Windows" phones and for overall ease of use I'd come back to android every time. The only time I have ever had such irritation with a product I've wanted to put a hammer through it there and then, it has always been Apple. Soulboy
Having had a few weeks with the Galaxy S6 Edge, I love it. I got a super slim case (1mm) and a great screen protector which seemed to shrink on over the first couple of days, and all the bubbles disappeared and now you can't even tell it's there. The phone can easily run in split screen two X 4k YouTube vids without buffering. Must be the octacore processor. Battery life is good too - sometimes left with 75% at night. Cordless charger is great too. No real drawbacks except don't like the stock keyboard and the 'edge' doesn't do much. That said visuals look great on the edgeless screen, especially vids. Rachel
Interestingly, I just picked up a Samsung Tab S 8.4 (came running 4.4.2 Android OS) as my original iPad Mini though running iOS 8.4 is now becoming memory constrained (it only has 0.5GB RAM) when doing things like browsing in more than 2 tabs in the Mercury browser. I just upgraded Android to Lollipop 5.0.2 and with the 8 core processor and 3GB RAM it just flies. So now I can choose which tablet gives the best browsing experience. I left iPhones behind and love rhe capabilities of my now aging HTC OneX+ (2 of them) and Nexus 5 running a Pwnie Express custom ROM. iOS is definitely easier to learn and faster to adapt to, but now I'll be able to test the latest from the Chocolate Factory on an app by app and usability basis. NewNiceMrMe
I'll be interested to hear your extended thoughts on the Samsung. We have recently bought an iPad Air 2. So we now have an Air, Air 2 and two iPad 3's. Comparing them is interesting. The Air 2 is being used by MrsMe. I have the Air and the eldest and youngest have the 3's. But.... I was offered the exact model Samsung you've mentioned on what appeared to be a no-brainer of a deal just a few weekends ago. I declined because I couldn't quite see how I'd get much use from it. However, I have been thinking about changing my mind on it purely because it was such a stupidly cheap deal and had 6gb of data thrown in - for £16 a month on a 24 month contract. Nothing up front. On that basis it is £384 over the full term. I could use it as a 4G back-up (even though my iPhone has 20gb and my Air has 10gb) because I do get through a huge amount of data when traveling - but then I have 3gb on a Lumia 930 and 500mb on a ZTE Blade V. Crazy, I know, but I have used the full amount of data on all 4 devices 3 times in the last year. Apart from that, it would give me an extra Android option because the ZTE is a crap screen. That said, they also offered me an iPad Mini 3 (or whatever the latest is) on exactly the same deal. I wouldn't get any OS flexibility benefit out of that though. Rachel
Well so far I'M LOVING surfing with firefox with a few privacy add ons enabled and not hit a memory limit with 3 or more tabs. The version of Hangouts on iOS is newer and superior to the 'droid version. Most other apps behave similarly on both platforms like gmail, dropbox, skitch and now evernote as the latest 'droid version finally lets you access the trash... The keyboard doesn't seem to suffer the slowdown the iOS one does. Other than that it is very fast.
Rachel
Update. For the geek or nerd in the family, the 'droid tablet rocks and ticks all the technoweenie street cred boxes. For the novice or some one like my mum, go with the iPad. More intuitive, easier to use.
Waylander
Had a play today with various tablets. I like the Samsung Tab s, of the ipads I think the mini is a good size. Pity there is no 8" Windows tablet. In time it would be good to get a Windows (and now that we have an ipod and MBP) as well as a mini
Rachel
Update. Several of the apps common to both platforms have better UIs and more functionality on iOS than Android 5. Weirdly Google's GMail and Hangouts have much better usability on iOS (& things like copy/paste of images between hangout chats with different folks). Other apps like the BBC news and IMDB are likewise more friendly on the iPad. Edited August 14, 2015 by Rachel
