Tipex
Anyone got a clue how Passbook works? I'm on my Windows laptop booking cinema tickets for later today (Minion Movie), and once booked it shows a QR code. It says you can just show this code at the cinema and go straight in, so either print it, or take a photo of it on my phone. Underneath it has an Apple Passbook logo, so I think, oh, I've not seen one of those before, how does that work, open the Passbook app on my phone and it has an option to scan code, brilliant I think. Scan the code, and it says "no booking available" or something similar, it just wont take the code. So I click the Apple Passbook logo on the laptop to see what happens, and it downloads a file that my computer, nor anyone else (having googled it), knows what to do with. So the question is, how do I get that booking in to Passbook on my phone? as it is, it seems completely and utterly pointless Cineworld telling me I can use the code in Passbook, because I can't. Scotty
When I book I look at the confirmation on my iPhone and then add it to Passbook and it works. Then I either launch Passbook when going into the cinema or normally it's already a notification on the locked screen so it's just a quick swipe to bring it up. Last week I used Passbook for the cinema, both legs of my Ryan Air flight and a visit to Subway. All nice and easy. Tipex
I tried to log in to my cinema account on my phone, but while it shows the booking, it doesn't give any option to view the confirmation or get the passbook code. I did eventually get it, by viewing the confirmation email on my phone and clicking the Passbook link, but it's a bit of a faff, if the QR code just worked in the first place it would be great. Once I'd got it, it was fine, as you say, pops up on the lock screen and swipe for the QR code, waltz straight in. In theory it's great, and I'm sure other sites must utilise it better, but it was a total pain to figure out. Scotty
Yep - have to do it by reading the email on your phone and saying add to Passbook. Silly that the Cineworld app (in my case) doesn't just support the QR's.
