cheechy
So I've looked at a few paid for and not but any real world experience? Doing a driving holiday next week through France and Italy so obviously talking western Europe.
Scotty
Navmii - I have it on iPhone as a backup. It's also on Android. I've tested it twice and seems to be better than I expected for free. Handy for when there's no data signal or you have roaming charges.
shao_khan
The old Nokia maps app was due to go multi platform and that allows you to download map packs. Used it on a windows phone, you'd need to check if it got released on the other platforms. Always worked well for me.
Mook
I use "Here" on android - it's absolutely brilliant. Having come from an iPhone with TomTom (which was about £50 IIRC), I was really skeptical that a free app would work and be reliable, but it's flawless. Install the app and then download maps to use offline as you need them. Used it on a 2,000+ mile trip to France this summer and it was spot on every time. I've also used it in Germany, Belgium and Italy and again no problems. Just run it in offline mode if you don't want it downloading traffic data etc in real time (it's how I use it in the UK). NewNiceMrMe
I have been very impressed with HERE Maps on the Windows phone I have. I haven't used it a lot, but when I have done I can't help but get a little addicted to LiveSight mode. The fact you can have offline maps (there's a limit but it is something silly like 100 or more) is just a bonus. I read an article not too long ago that said Apple were seriously developing the Maps app on the iPhone because HERE Maps (launched for iOS earlier this year) had been getting far too many downloads for their liking.
dazdot
My car uses Here maps, never failed me yet. So thumbs up from me. Another question re maps, is there an android app that shows public footpaths? Ive done a quick search but cannot find any.
cheechy
Thanks chaps have an old Garmin and whilst it's OK and new maps bought last year it's beginning to look its age so thought I'd put my cheap little hudl2 to good use. Getting used to the big 12" screen on the TT is the problem :-) Will give them a test drive to see...also just got hold of co pilot which I've heard good things about.
