The Bentley Manual.

When I bought my A8 in 2007, as with all the cars I have ever bought, I thought it would be a good idea to buy a 'manual' for it. IE, in the UK, a Haynes Manual. My previous Audi, a 1986 200 Quattro Turbo Avant, was covered in the Audi 100 manual and most of it was wrong.

It came to my attention that in the USA, one could buy a very extensive manual in hardback from the Bentley publishing company.

I promptly decided that at close to £GBP200 it would be a good investment. Until I found out the cost of postage. $253!!!!

i have gone down the road of purchasing a digital service manual from ebay (emanuals) a nightmare! and its not the Bentley manual.

Why are the Bentley manuals not published, ie in book form in Europe?

Has anyone got one for sale in the uk?

As my last computer's hard drive unexpectedly died, i refuse to pay nearly £200 for a download that wont work on certain Operating Systems.

Even VCDS doesnt work on certain systems..

I only ask because NOBODY in South Wales UK has a clue about A8s and it would be nice to show them what to do with the manual that is the Bentley Manual for the D2 A8.

Only available in printed form in the USA.

PS Its not fair emailing Paul Waterloo all the time cos no one knows a thing about A8s, especially main stealers.

You can "buy " access to their download site (Bentley that is) and download the manual piecemeal.

Can't remember how much it is, but it is much less than the manual for 24 hours & then just sit at the PC for a few hours downloading the sections.

Alternatively, they do sometimes come up for sale through Amazon/ebay.

They are 1,000,000 times better than Haynes & well worth the money if the car is a keeper,  I have them for e36 & e39 IIRC.

Have you seen this Bosch link?

Will that help?

Also, Elsawin from ebay is probably a better bet.  It's the software that the Audi dealers use.

Couple Elsawin with Etka which is the parts database and breaks the car down into engine/body/exhaust/interioir and other bits.  I use it a lot to get an idea of where a part is.

Try them first, before the Bentley manual.

Oh, and youtube!
