Tipex
We have two Hudl2's and a Nexus 7, the Nexus 7 is refusing to charge via the mini (micro?) USB connector now, I am told it will still charge if you buy the dock as it uses the contacts on the side to charge but people want silly money for the dock now, I've replaced the mini (micro?) USB connector once already and the new one only lasted a few months, so I just want to replace it. I need something that's basically the equivalent of the Hudl2 or better, it's for littlest Miss T so don't want to spend iPad money, £100 or less really. I would simply buy another Hudl2 if they were available but they are no longer in store so wondered if anyone knew of anything else? I've seen the adverts for the Amazon Fire at £49.99 anyone know if it's actually any good? or if there are even any decent apps on it? don't want something that doesn't get the popular apps. I got an Amazon Fire last month for free. It's OK, it's got an Amazon version of Android (Fire OS) so it is tied down to Amazon Appstore for the apps, rather than the usual Google Play store, although there are hacks to get around this. NewNiceMrMe
As Daz says, the Amazon Fire is a good little device. For the money I don't think there's anything to touch it.
Tipex
For £50 I don't think I can go wrong considering it's for a 4 year old, so long as Netflix and Youtube work she'll be happy, she might not be so happy if she can't get some of the same games her big sister has but if there are ways around it as Daz says, then it's got to be worth a punt. Ordered one from Argos, will pick it up tomorrow.
