What a waste. What a shame. Anybody got any super glue I can borrow?
Scotty
Give it to Gas Monkey then it'll be as good as new for very little expenditure
Tipex
Give it to Gas Monkey then it'll be as good as new for very little expenditure They did that F40, looked like they did a very good job too. I'm glad they didn't try to return it to 'original' condition as well, it was, and will always be, a crashed and massively repaired vehicle. Scotty
I'm not so sure and that's my issue with them going for that F40. It seems a few mechanics in a lock up in Dallas know more about suspension etc than all the brains and budget of Ferrari. I enjoy the program actually but I don't get the short cuts they seem to use on occaisions.
Tipex
The setup is rather more than a lock up, the Ferrari was sent to a specialist for the chassis repairs, as for the suspension, they simply updated it to more modern components, things have moved on a lot since the F40 was designed! I enjoy the show, I think most of the time any short cuts they appear to take are probably due to editing and time constraints of the show. From what I gather, the products they turn out are exceptionally good. Unlike some of those in other shows, such as Fat N Furious, or the spin off Misfit Garage, some of the things they appear (on TV) to do to cars look very poor. There was another show with some car designer and an ex wrestler building cars for people with the cash they made from clearing the rest of their car hordes, some of the things they did were downright dangerous, cutting springs to lower a car etc. Edited March 22, 2016 by Tipex
E-bmw
I have to say, I am in agreement with the above sentiments. Of the similar shows that are on, it is deffo my favourite of the lot.
Scotty
Fair point about suspension components moving on since F40 manufacture but you never see them tune the suspension etc. It's all just bolt on and the seemingly relaxed way they hack metal out of things to make way for oversized engines, gearboxes etc does make me worry about the structural integrity. I wonder how their products last web out in the real world. I'm sounding anti-Gas Monkey but I'm not - I do enjoy it but it all seems a bit fly. For their numbers they do seem to have some great man maths being done.
Tipex
As I say, I think they miss out a lot of the 'boring' stuff as it doesn't really fit with the theme of the show, they did go in to some detail with Aaron's Pikes Peak racer but they don't usually. It's definitely my favourite car themed TV show at the moment, the Smokey and the Bandit two part special they did a couple of years ago was one of the funniest things I've seen on TV for a while, I so badly want that Bandit car too, I'd have it over any Ferrari (save for a 250GT California) if I won the lottery.
